Primary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:
- Manages strategic and operational planner/ buyer or procurement teams.
- With alignment to division purchasing, develops and implements worldwide supplier strategy, long-range plans, global supply chain optimization, and builds supplier relationships for several commodity areas.
- Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials, and/ or utilities and outside services, as well as coordinating global procurement efforts.
- Responsible for setting and achieving performance goals/ metrics to improve total delivered/ lifecycle commodity cost, quality, technology and service.
- Responsible for implementing procurement initiatives and process improvements, and for getting feedback from regions on the success of AMS’s global procurement programs.
- Also, accountable for worldwide supply/ demand and global cost forecasting for a specific assigned commodity area.
- Responsible for planning and/ or obtaining materials, components, equipment and services.
- Checks requisitions, obtains quotations and examines bids.
- Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
- Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.
- Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop strategies within Corporate Guidelines to obtain best pricing, delivery, support and quality from the Suppliers.
- Work together with the various functions to optimize spending on both direct and indirect material purchases.
- Manage the daily operations of the Procurement Department and embark on process improvement projects to ensure that efficiency and productivity is upkeep.
- Manage the Suppliers to maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnership while best serving the internal customers.
- Administering contracts according to agreed pricing and terms.
- Conduct performance appraisal on key suppliers to ensure guidelines are followed and expectations fulfilled.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Min 6-10 years of related experience and 5 years in management situation, preferably with focused Indirect procurement experience
- To have excellent communication skills to maintain good business relationship with suppliers and to operate effectively within the corporate procurement organization.
- To have good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications.
- Project management skills.
- Work with minimum supervision.
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Studies, Engineering or Material Management or related discipline
