Position Overview: Senior Procurement Engineer
Responsible for managing the development and execution of procurement strategies and processes that align with the company’s operational goals. This key role ensures the procurement of high-quality materials and services while driving cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have excellent negotiation skills and extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, the position includes managing infrequent large expenditure, procuring indirect materials and equipment, engineering consumables, and various services.
Key Responsibilities
- The Senior Procurement Engineer will be responsible for managing procurement activities on large-scale projects, ensuring compliance with budget limitations. This includes overseeing procurement budgets, providing regular expenditure updates, and identifying opportunities for cost reduction. The role also covers the procurement of indirect materials and equipment.
- This position will manage the procurement of technical goods and services, ensuring that they meet project requirements and are delivered on schedule.
- The Senior Procurement Engineer will build and maintain a strong supplier network for equipment, utilities, and facilities, with an emphasis on contract negotiation to drive cost savings while ensuring the quality of supplies.
- The role involves evaluating potential suppliers based on their quality, cost, and reliability to ensure optimal vendor selection.
- The Senior Procurement Engineer will be responsible for drafting, managing, and issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), leading contract negotiations to secure favorable terms, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- This position requires close collaboration with teams from Engineering, Operations, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance to ensure that procurement efforts align with project timelines and regulatory requirements.
- The Senior Procurement Engineer will lead efforts to optimize inventory levels, minimize procurement costs, and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
- A key responsibility of this role is ensuring that all purchased materials and equipment meet required regulatory and quality standards, including adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 6-8 years of experience in procurement engineering, preferably in the pharmaceutical or related manufacturing industries.
- Strong expertise in procurement processes, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation and analytical abilities with attention to detail and a strategic focus on cost savings and operational efficiency.
