Main responsibilities:
Manage the fleet order cycle to enhance business performance and ensure sustainability while ensuring vessels get what they need, when they need it, where they need it, to operate safely, cost effectively, while optimizing commercial performance. He /She shall further:
- Strategically plan and manage procurement, warehouse and inventory, transportation and clearance of supplies for global fleet.
- Manage the catering needs of the entire fleet.
- Keep the Head of Technical Management fully advised on fleet and vendor supply issues.
- Interface with Commercial managers and Operational managers as needed to support corporate commercial activities and third party vessel operations as required.
- Develop good communication and relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and service providers.
- Ensure optimization of the logistic set-up (work flows, selection of suppliers and logistic providers, warehousing and inventory) for procurement globally or locally as trading patterns dictate.
- Integrate Company’s quality, compliance, and safety standards into the procurement and supply processes to enhance fleet performance and ensure compliance with Company policy, ISM standards, and all laws and regulations.
- Negotiate, implement, and manage logistic agreements with qualified global logistics vendors.
- Negotiate, implement, and manage master services or supply agreements with key/critical vendors.
- Arbitrate and resolve supply and logistics issues.
- Develop and maintain metrics and provide analysis to assess logistics and supply chain performance.
- Actively participate in budget process by providing reliable data and local/global perspective.
- Ensure reliable and clear reporting to accounting for transparency and control purposes.
- When required, ensure detailed and constructive support for accident and warranty claims.
- Lead, organize and optimize resources of the supply chain team, develop and coach to ensure continuity and excellence in process of procurement.
- Proactively anticipate needs for store & spares, keep track of quality, quantity, stock levels and delivery time.
- Arrange warehouse, manage rotating capital inventory, manage core returns, consumable goods catalogues, and plan supply routes, etc.
- Utilize and optimize company’s business applications to support logistics and supply chain activities.
- Communicate information on compliance, insurance requirements, technical standards and regulations to staff, partners and suppliers and ensure application.
- Ensure invoice processing is correctly managed with emphasis on accuracy and speed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
The applicant requires the following educational background and qualifications:
- A Master’s degree related to Shipping, Accounting or a Technical field of study
- Seagoing experience as an officer
- Previous on-shore experience in a similar role
- Experience with catering for seagoing vessels
