Role Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Purchasing Engineer to join our team. The Purchasing Engineer will be responsible for managing the procurement process for automotive components and materials, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that meet our specifications and standards. The role will involve collaborating closely with suppliers to negotiate contracts, monitor supplier performance, and resolve any issues that may arise. Additionally, the Purchasing Engineer will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop sourcing strategies to meet their needs while optimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure the timely procurement of automotive components and materials.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers, conduct supplier evaluations, and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to understand product requirements and specifications.
- Monitor supplier performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
- Manage the procurement process from RFQ (Request for Quotation) to PO (Purchase Order) issuance, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, conduct cost analysis, and recommend optimising costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.
- Stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements to inform sourcing decisions and mitigate risks.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, pricing agreements, and supplier performance metrics.
- Support cost reduction initiatives and participate in value engineering projects to optimize product costs without compromising quality or performance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers in Taiwan, China, Europe and USA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with procurement software or ERP systems.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
