FORMAL PREREQUISITES FOR THE POSITION

• Master of Science or Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering / Material Science; or
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science

Technical Skills:

• At least 4 years in an ISO 9001 Manufacturing or QAQC role or equivalent; or
• 4 years of experience working under an ISO 17025:2017 based Quality Management System (QMS)
• Strong knowledge in common metallic materials and alloy specifications and chemical composition, especially in steels, stainless steels, nickel alloys, cobalt alloys, aluminium alloys, titanium alloys.
• Good knowledge on metallic material properties and their industrial purposes
• Good knowledge of welding consumables and processes and their applications
• Good Understanding of measurement uncertainty and factors contributing to it

Other Skills:

• Build and maintain good relationship with Customers
• Good communication skills (provide technical advice and explanation to customers on work/test performed)
• CWI or CSWIP 3.1 (will be an added advantage)
• PCN Level 2 in Visual Inspection (will be an added advantage)

Responsibilities

• Prepared checklists for different components of third rail based on manufacturers ITP to check manufacturers’ standards
• Liaise with LTA, SMRT and supplier to carry out material inspection
• Coordinate with material supplier and manufacturer before receiving materials for installation of third rail
• Check materials for any physical damage and ensure there is proper traceability to FATs (Factory Acceptance Test)
• Record all inspections and send reports to SMRT
• Prepare rejection report
• Ensure materials reach site for installation after QC inspection by managing material issuance procedure.
• Inspected concrete track bed casting and checked the quality of concrete
• Ensured all equipment and tools used are calibrated regularly
• Prepared concrete related reports for submission to LTA
• Inspected concrete sleepers laying and also checked if there is any hogging or sagging in the sleepers
• Trained supervisors to carry out NDT test on rail welds and closely monitor the test results

Requirements

• Min Degree in any Mechanical/Electronic/Mechatronics Engineering
• Good understanding in ISO standard for ISO 9000, 14000, and18000
• Railway project experience is a plus
