Reporting and Analytics Developer/Data Engineer

Job Description:

• Good understanding and completion of projects using waterfall/Agile methodology.

• Good understanding of analytics and data warehouse implementations.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues ranging from system resource to application stack traces.

• Strong SQL, data modelling and data analysis skills are a must.

• Hands-on experience in big data engineering jobs using Python, PySpark, Linux, and ETL tools like Informatica.

• Track record in implementing systems using Hive, Impala and Cloudera Data Platform will be preferred.

• Hands-on experience in DevOps deployment and data virtualization tools like Denodo will be preferred.

• Understanding/ Hands on experience of reporting or visualization tool like SAP BO and Tableau will be beneficial but not required.

• Passion for automation, standardization, and best practices

• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to understand the business requirement, communicate confidently with stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Application Architecture and Engineering (AAE) Sitting within Information Technology Department, the UX Writer/ Content Designer is responsible:

• Participate in user research activities to understand users' goals, behaviour and needs.

• Define context scenarios and tell stories about ideal user experiences the team wants to achieve.

• Write from the user's perspective, in plain English.

• Make complex language and processes easy to understand.

• Produce a consistent tone of voice guidelines for a product.

• Design content to meet user needs.

• Design appropriate usability tests for content.

• Uncover users' mental models for organising information.

• Design information architecture based on analytics, user needs and stakeholders’ priorities.

• Use methods such as card sorting, and tree testing to validate and iterate information architecture.

• Audit, track and map content to IA.

• Identify content gaps.

• Map the flow between users and the product.

• Use appropriate design patterns for organising content e.g. faceted navigation, tagging, hub and spoke.

• Define SEO and SEM strategies.

What we are looking for

• Ability to facilitate discussions and workshops with different stakeholders.

• Have UX writing, content design and content strategy experience on digital products or digital platforms.

• Possess a good portfolio that demonstrates creativity and craft in writing for digital products or media.

• Have strong conceptual skills with knowledge of how copy relates to design and user experience.

• Experience working closely with a UX team of Interaction/UX designers, Visual designers and UX researchers to deliver the best user experience.

• Experience working in a cross-functional and agile development team would be a bonus.

• We are looking for an experienced developer who will hit the ground running!
• 3 years+ experience developing and supporting Moodle plugins, integrations and customisations.
• Strong experience with the development of PHP/JS platform and web service apps.
• Have in-depth knowledge of PHP / JS and development best practices.
• Strong understanding of the Moodle software structure and internals.
• Exposure to Moodle architecture.
• Good knowledge of GIT and ticket tracking systems (like JIRA / Teamwork).
• Good knowledge of web application security, performance and scalability.
• Experience with Mustache templates.
• Experience with Moodle web services.
• Experience working with Web Services and RESTful applications.
• Strong understanding of databases and SQL. (MySQL/Postgres)
• Good knowledge in HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, JQuery & Ajax.
• Fantastic communication skills.
• Passion for creating high quality products.
• Being able to take initiative whilst being part of a team.
• Advanced English skills.
