[What the role is]
You will be working on the Music and Arts Collection Metadata Enhancement project as an Intern under Resource Discovery & Management.
[What you will be working on]
- Understand the basics of metadata and how it is used by staff, systems and members of the public.
- Become familiar with NLB’s digital music and arts collection and how it is being made discoverable to users.
- Conduct research on the practices of other institutions with digital music, arts and cultural heritage collections.
- Compile a report on recommendations to improve and enhance the metadata and processes to create it, including the use of automated tools.
- Develop a workflow for metadata enhancement and share results of the report through presentations and reports.
- Execute the recommended changes to enhance the metadata.
- Document and maintain records of the metadata enhancement processes and any issues resolved.
[What we are looking for]
- Students from Information Science/Studies, History and Library/Archives related courses are preferred.
- Familiarity with the use of Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated critical thinking abilities.
- Capacity for teamwork and collaboration in project settings.
- Curiosity and a proactive approach to learning and innovation.
- Interest in local music, arts and cultural heritage would be advantageous.
