XCL American Academy is seeking to recruit a passionate and innovative Entrepreneurship and Innovation Teacher to teach students from Grade 1 to 8. This is a full time 2 year contract position starting from 1 August 2024.
This position requires a creative individual who can inspire young minds, foster entrepreneurial thinking, and integrate STEM practices into the curriculum. The ideal candidate will help to lead XAA Pioneer Town.They will be adept at collaborating with grade-level teachers to create transdisciplinary learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Preference will be given to teachers who have relevant experience in American Common Core Curriculum, as well as a clear track record of teaching in international school settings.
Preference will be given to teachers who have knowledge and experience with the “Everyday Math” program.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that introduces students to entrepreneurship and innovation concepts suitable for their grade level and manage Pioneer Town
- Design engaging lessons that integrate STEM practices (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to teach entrepreneurship and innovation concepts.
- Foster a culture of creativity, curiosity, and risk-taking among students, encouraging them to explore and develop their ideas.
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers to integrate entrepreneurship and innovation principles across various subject areas, creating transdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including project-based learning, hands-on activities, and real-world simulations, to make learning relevant and engaging.
- Assess student learning and progress regularly, providing feedback and support to help students develop their entrepreneurial skills.
- Organize and facilitate extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs, maker spaces, and entrepreneurship challenges, to further enrich students' learning experiences.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in entrepreneurship education, continuously seeking opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators, sharing student progress and participating in collaborative planning meetings.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.
- Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the School.
- Demonstrates professional ethics, international mindedness and the school’s mission.
- Adheres cooperatively to XCL policies and regulations, including duties, deadlines, programme requirements.
- Seeks clarification in case of lack of clarity in order to fully meet all expectations of the role and sets and maintains consistently high standards.
- Contribute to the development of curriculum and assessment documentation.
- Show exemplary attendance to work eg.recognize the importance and support for the XAA’s extended school day activities
Person Specifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM-related field, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in elementary education with a focus on STEM or entrepreneurship.
- Strong knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovation principles, as well as pedagogical practices for teaching these concepts to young learners.
- Familiarity with STEM education frameworks and standards, such as NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and CSTA (Computer Science Teachers Association).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Passion for inspiring creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in young children.
- Willingness to adapt and innovate in response to the evolving needs of students and the educational landscape.
- Possess skills and attitudes aligned to the purpose, mission and vision of the school
- Need clear eagerness, resilience and understanding to engage and collaborate in the development of a highly aspirational school
- Have a demonstrated commitment to education and learning beyond the classroom
- Be flexible and willing to take on new challenges
