ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Month-End Closing Procedures:
- Execute all month-end closing procedures promptly, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting within third working day.
- Maintain and monitor accrual and prepayment schedules, making necessary adjustments and releases.
- Collaborate with other functional groups to analyse balance sheet movements and conduct in-depth operational expenditure (OPEX) analyses.
- Calculate taxes and deferred taxes in compliance with legal standards.
- Prepare a comprehensive monthly management reporting pack.
Bookkeeping and Accounting:
- Manage full bookkeeping and accounting responsibilities for the branch and smaller subsidiaries.
Compliance and Audit Requirements:
- Coordinate external and internal audits, ensuring adherence with legal standards and company policies.
- Prepare audited financial statements and liaise with auditors by providing necessary documentation.
- Handle tax computations, liaise with tax agents, and address queries from the Comptroller of Income Tax efficiently.
- Oversee the renewal and maintenance of the Major Exporter Scheme for GST purposes.
- Ensure timely submission of required surveys and reports to the Singapore Government.
- As the trade compliance officer, review the sanctioned list of customers/suppliers and make appropriate recommendations.
Workflow and System Enhancements:
- Identify and implement improvements in financial workflows and accounting systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Lead projects related to system enhancements, ensuring that financial operations leverage the latest technology for optimal performance.
Ad-hoc Responsibilities:
- Undertake additional tasks as required by the finance director or other superiors, which may vary according to the department's needs.
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience in audit and commercial environments, with a strong background in financial reporting, tax, and compliance.
- Prior experience managing accounting functions for overseas branches or subsidiaries, especially in Taiwan, is highly valued.
- In-depth understanding of Singapore GST and other relevant tax regulations.
- Proficiency in SAP S4/Hana, SAP ECC and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities to assess financial data and make informed decisions.
- Organisational skills to manage complex financial processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of effective dialogue with auditors, tax agents, and internal stakeholders.
- Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is advantageous for dealings with the Taiwan branch.
- Ability to function both as an individual contributor and team player and comfortable working in a fast-pace work environment.
