Work hours : 7.30am to 4.45pm Monday to Thursday

7.30am to 4.15 pm Friday

Contract : 1 year Jan 2025 to Dec 2025

- Prepare experimental setups for all lab activities and trial the experiments and modify the experiments, when required, prior to the Science curriculum/enrichment lessons and Science CCA.

-  Prepare additional apparatus for teachers who wish to carry out additional Science activities and be on hand to help out during Science Workshops conducted by the school.

- Assist with the purchase of materials required for experiments for both Science curriculum lessons/enrichment and Science CCA in alignment with budget requirements.

- Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of the two Science Labs

- Conduct stock-taking of all apparatus and resources belonging to the Science department at least twice a year.  Maintain a logbook for entry of classes into and out of the Science labs.

-  Maintain a logbook for entry of any broken/condemnation of apparatus and chemicals for the Science labs.  Preparation of the Outdoor and Indoor Hydroponics/Urban Farming Facility for planting and harvesting followed by cleaning of the facility in preparation for the next harvest.

-Monitoring of the Science Ecological Gardens and assist in replacement of plants where required.

- Maintanence of the Laboratory Aquariums (which includes the change of water and assist in replacement of plants and livestock where required).

Makerspace

- Prepare materials and tools required for makerspace recess activities and workshops

- Manage and maintain makerspace equipment, including 3D printers, digital cutters and other tools.

-  Provide technical support and assistance to makerspace users regarding equipment operation and troubleshooting.

-  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the makerspace.

Others

- Support in miscellaneous administrative school matters required by the HOD/LH Science/School Admin. 

- May also be deployed to help other department

Job responsibilities:

• Provide teaching and learning support to teachers, for example, preparation of resources / materials for Science laboratory activities and enrichment programme.

• Label and keep records of existing and new Science teaching and learning materials and lab resources such as teachers’ desk copies, reference books, lab apparatus and chemicals etc. Maintain loan records of Science Resources.

• Pack and organise the resources in the Science Rooms. Ensure that the Science rooms are clean and conducive for lessons.

• Ensure lab equipment, materials and specimens are in good working conditions. Conduct stock-take at least twice a year. Maintain a stock book and breakage record to initiate ordering of replacements where necessary.

• Ensure proper disposal of waste materials such as sharp waste objects and chemicals.

• Ensure safety of pupils in the Science rooms. Report any incident to Science HOD/ Level Head. Maintain a laboratory incident log book.

• Check that first aid box is updated, safety devices in the laboratory, such as emergency eye-washers, showers and fire extinguishers are working.

• Provide administrative / logistical support for Science competitions, assessments and programmes collation of survey results and distribution of Science materials to pupils etc.

• Assist in carrying out safety briefings such as Laboratory Safety, equipment awareness (e.g. Microscopes).

• Any other duties assigned by the School

Job Requirement :

• Diploma in Science or it equivalent

• At least one year experience in assisting HOD-Science in the execution of daily Science Laboratory Operational and Administrative duties.

• At least one year experience of providing support for Science programmes; STEM & Sustainability projects and Laboratory- based lessons in schools.

• Experience in creating digital resources such as presentations and videos according to Science Experiential Learning Experiences using powerpoint.

• Proficient in preparation and maintenance of Laboratory equipment.

• Good interpersonal, communication, planning and analytical skills.

• Has experience working with primary school students in school settings.

• Able to plan and work both independently and as part of a team

• Certified with standard first aid is not necessary but will be an advantage
