Engineer for the product development of door hardware products. (i.e. door closers and floor springs)
An experienced professional responsible for leading and executing entire product development cycles, from new concept design generation, concept and feasibility evaluation, detailed design to prototyping and testing until series production.
Job Responsibilities
- Product development for dormakaba’s surface-mounted and concealed door closers and floor springs.
- Develops and manages new product designs in accordance with project requirements, while adhering to project milestones and schedule.
- Conduct feasibility studies, FMEA, cost analysis and material selection to support design decisions.
- Collaborate closely manufacturers, and suppliers to address technical challenges through DFM & DFA and ensure successful implementation of designs.
- Prepare and present design proposals, progress reports, and project updates to stakeholders, while abiding to timely delivery within project’s budget.
- Utilizes SolidWorks software to generate detailed 3D models and technical drawings for prototypes and production.
- Setup test plans using DOE methodology, analyze test results and iterate design to meet performance and quality standards.
- Participate in team design reviews, providing constructive feedback and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Material Engineering is required.
- Min 3 years’ design experience in a product development environment, contributing to a product’s successful delivery into series production will be preferred.
- Experienced in designing springs, custom gears (e.g. rack and pinion, worm drives), cam drives, bearings and hydraulic systems.
- Skilled in material selection for steel and aluminum, with expertise in manufacturing processes, including machining, cast iron / aluminum casting, metal forming and heat treatment.
- Knowledge in theoretical calculations related to the field of statics, dynamics and kinematics.
