RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE
The Territorial Protecting the Mission (PTM) Coordinator is responsible for providing guidance and oversight the function, and ensuring compliance with, the Army's Protecting the Mission (PTM) policies and procedures which embody the SMMT Territory's child, elder and vulnerable/dependent person abuse prevention and advocacy program.
The Territorial PTM Coordinator will develop and oversee (either personally or through qualified personnel in the field) training to officers and staff working with children or elders and vulnerable/dependent persons. The coordinator will also support and monitor the regional and local PTM assessment process, ensuring compliance with PTM Policy throughout the Territory.
In addition, the Territorial PTM Coordinator will facilitate the incident reporting and response process in conjunction with the Personnel, Legal, Programme and Risk Management departments with the Territorial and respective regions. The coordinator may also be a part of various Territorial and National initiatives and committees intended to further enhance The Salvation Army's abuse prevention and advocacy program.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management and Training
- Support the Territorial Secretary for Personnel and THQ Department Heads to maintain and develop standards and procedures for the protection of children, elderly and vulnerable/dependent persons.
- Coordinate (physical/virtual) training for all personnel with access to children, elderly or other vulnerable/dependent persons.
- Develop and maintain job specific curriculum for personnel that is congruent with their level of access to children, elderly and vulnerable/dependent persons.
- Provide in person training for cadets, officers, and potential local PTM coordinators
- Provide resources to regional and local PTM Coordinators and assist in the development of program specific PTM tools.
- Maintain and develop abuse prevention goals and initiatives and ensure full completion and implementations.
- Acts as media spokesperson on PTM cases for TSA.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance via in person visits, monitoring, assessments, and correspondence.
- Review and track the assessment of local programs, manage Accreditation process, and work with regions and local leadership to correct deficiencies. Any major gaps or deficiencies should be reported to THQ leadership directly.
- Develop new abuse prevention tools, statistical information tracking reports, reporting and responding structures, standards and policies, and compliance tracking tools.
- Coordinate with the regional HQ, Legal, Personnel & Human Resource departments and relevant stakeholders including local government agencies to respond and guide field representatives on risk management and incident reporting to investigate allegations of abuse and sexual misconduct.
- Provide information to liability insurance carriers when necessary.
- Develop informational material for clients and program participants align with national standards whenever available and possible.
- Team with the relevant centres serving children, elderly or vulnerable/dependent persons to implement and maintain the new vulnerable adult abuse prevention standards.
- Ensure confidentiality and protection of whistleblower and stakeholders at all times.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain proper records, consolidate reports and compile statistical data.
- Manage budget, ensure compliance with Salvation Army and external regulations, and develop internal controls.
- Implement reasonably and practicable measures relating to process and documentation of information and code of good governance.
Projects and Other Duties
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the Leadership from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Sociology, Human Resource Management or any related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in developing training programs and compliance monitoring.
- Ability to work with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.
