About the role

• This role involves providing actuarial advice and services, particularly with respect to technical pricing, to meet the strategic goals of the company specific to the Group Line of Business
• A typical day on the job will require you to work on the development and maintenance of pricing models, conduct actuarial analyses by leveraging on both in-house data and external sources in support of Group pricing work, review pricing referrals from reinsurance partners and provide insights to external stakeholders from the perspective of a health insurance expert
• The ideal candidate will be self-motivated to be responsible for high standards of performance, with an open mind to fresh ideas on new market opportunities and benefits
• Commercial awareness is key to succeed in this role, with keen appreciate of the balance between technical rigour and business dynamics

Responsibilities:

• Generate quotations for Group Health accounts within authority limit
• Present technical findings of Group Health accounts above authority limit to senior actuarial management for approval
• Conduct experience studies, rate adequacy analysis, financial projections, and analysis on company background to support a robust actuarial pricing
• Exhibit leadership as the face of the Group Pricing team in response to queries from both internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to negotiation of complex reinsurance contracts
• Maintain proper product documentation for Group Health quotation exercises including tenders, proposals and policy documents
• Perform research using both in-house data and external sources for new market opportunities and new benefits
• Become the technical expert and lead direct reports on Group pricing referrals

Requirements:

• Good progress in Actuarial exams of a recognized actuarial body
• Candidate with Mathematics/Actuarial or any related degree background
• 2 to 3 years’ experience working in an actuarial role, preferably in short-term health insurance (e.g. Employee Benefits)
• Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics or business-related field
• Proficient in MS Office, VBA, SQL and a high degree of comfort working with large datasets is preferred

Position Objective:

To be involved in areas such as IFRS17 valuation reporting functions, actuarial modelling (liability model/ALS model), as well as, other ad-hoc actuarial projects.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support IFRS17 valuation reporting for production and ensure the financials are in compliance with current accounting standards
• Identify areas of enhancement in IFRS17 valuation reporting to streamline and value add to current production process
• Maintenance and enhancement of both Prophet liability and ALS model for RBC2, IFRS17 and other internal reporting purposes;
• Support IFRS 17 business planning, including but not limited to development of new capabilities/KPIs, analyzing of the financial results, sensitivity testing and optimizing business strategies with forward looking view;
• Drive and provide support to audit matters, as well as, other ad-hoc projects related to IFRS17
• Support to other business units functions, if needed

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science or closely related subjects, such as Data Analysis and Mathematics
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of working experience related to IFRS17 valuation in life insurance industry
• Technical, sensitive to details, ability work independently and apply critical thinking
• Job title and rank depend on the number of years of actuarial working experience in Life/GI insurance
• Proficient in MS Excel, Macro and Prophet Model coding
• Good communications skills, meticulous and detail-oriented team player
• Must be a member of an actuary association recognized by the Singapore actuarial society and have a good progress in actuarial exams
• Ability to read and write in Chinese will be an advantage
• Fluent in both spoken and written English and Chinese

Contract Period:

• 2 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025 (12 Months) + 1 Year Optional renewal by school.

Deployment:

• Mondays to Fridays: 8.30am to 2:00pm, inclusive of 0.5hr lunch break
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays

Scope of Works:

1. Assist teachers in the preparation of teaching and learning resources and specimens needed.
2. Assist in the preparation of resources for science practical examinations.
3. Maintain all live specimens and laboratory equipment.
4. Conduct periodic stock-taking on laboratory supplies in science laboratory and advise Science HOD / LH on stock level
5. Conduct daily cleaning of the Life Science and Physical Science laboratories.
