Responsibilities

• Site Product Manufacturing and Release Support. Provide front line support to the product manufacturing process analytics, release testing and working with the QC teams (internal sites), or in close collaboration with CDMO Analytical Expert counterparts, focusing on the testing methods for each batch, their release on time and in compliance with the batch and analytical procedures instructions and quality requirements.
• Qualification & Validation.   Ensure that process technical batches generate sufficient analytical methods knowledge by thoroughly testing critical variables (e.g., DOE, QbD, PAT).
• Primary packaging closure assessment during changes. Drive the qualification and/or validation of primary packaging materials testing methods including the design of container suitability studies for the assigned product(s). Evaluate and ensure, in case of packaging change, that the primary packaging closure - including materials - are sufficient to ensure stability of the product and do not deteriorate quality.
• Assure consistency of Analytical Testing Procedures. Ensure that all critical and significant parameters are within written Instruction (e.g., Testing procedures, Validation Plan), sufficient and appropriate for the product. Derive in collaboration with the internal sites (QC team) / CDMO analytical team, the upper and lower control limits for each product analytical methods (where relevant), as part of the CPV program launch for all products
• Deviation, Out of Expectation, Out of Specification, complaint handling. Lead and/or support the GPS organization with all product and process related analytical investigations and deviations including complaints, Out of Expectation, Out of Specification, in partnership with internal / external site analytical teams. Use scientific and statistical knowledge to analyze data to provide process understanding, and to identify root causes of product and process failures.
• Annual Product Reviews and Product Quality Reviews. Be highly knowledgeable of product and process trends by providing input to Annual Product Reviews and Product Quality Review for analysis and for driving process technology innovations. Be a resource to other departments as Subject Matter Expert for the product and process knowledge.

Requirements

• BSc. In Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, or equivalent scientific degree. Desirable MSc. or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience as QC/IPC laboratory scientist of pharmaceutical /chemical GMP environment, or analytical methods development scientist.

Support teaching and learning in the following areas:

• Preparation of laboratory materials, hand tools, and components for lessons and examinations
• Troubleshoot and maintenance of laboratory tools and instruments
• Management of laboratory space for student projects, project equipment, materials and storage

Perform daily housekeeping and maintenance to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and tidiness of laboratories

Liaise with vendors and evaluate quotations from suppliers for laboratory equipment and electronics components

Track and maintain laboratory documentation (i.e., Risk Assessments and Components Data Sheets) and inventory of laboratory equipment, hand tools and components

Functions:

1. Highly versed in chemistry, reactions, and deep understanding of sucrose esters related to food additives emulsifiers.
2. Highly curious and strong determination and drive to pursue the mysteries in chemical processes and enjoy succeeding with results.
3. Highly skilled and solid experience in HPLC & GC systems in the laboratory and ability to develop new test methods and do general maintenance.
4. Develop and refine the process from R&D to scaling up challenges and will possibly be part of the greater Quality Team and its activities, to gain in-house process experience.
5. Highly proficient in the knowledge of in-quality processes and strong technical ability in innovations and processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:

1. Degree in Chemistry or Chemical engineering and strong experience developing reactions, and testing with oils & fats and sucrose. Some working experience in the laboratory will be useful, however, more importantly, a highly curious mind of a scientist, and a strong chemistry knowledge and/or emulsifiers, will be advantageous.
2. Loves the mysteries of chemistry and must have a great passion in a laboratory environment, R&D research, and a high curiosity nature to work hands-on to test and refine the process.
3. Some knowledge of Halal, Kosher, ISO procedures, FSSC, and RSPO will be an advantage, and the ability to build Quality Systems.
4. Role has huge growth aspects, depending on the individual’s development and ability to grow with the organisation.

• Support the Committee of Government Advisors (CGSA) in its work which includes providing advice on Singapore’s overall Science & Technology (S&T) agenda, and producing evidence-based reports on strategic issues that inform policy formulation and implementation;
• Conduct systematic reviews of the S&T literature to curate and analyse the evidence in defined areas within or across the Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Digital Sciences and Human/Social Sciences, and based on the findings, to develop initial drafts of how these should inform policy formulation;
• Perform technology foresighting and work with multiple public agencies to conduct joint technology road-mapping exercises to identify high priority R&D themes and areas and their implications;
• Analyse science & technology trends to identify potential new opportunities and threats relevant to the public sector, such as epidemic preparedness, climate change and trust technology; and
• Guide the coordination and programme management of selected S&T related initiatives which involve multiple agencies and cut across a range of disciplines; and
• Other ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• 1 year of experience and technical expertise in science, engineering or economics, who preferably has worked in the intersections of S&T, policy and strategy.
• Team player and possess strong analytical abilities, a broad sense of perspective, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate well with others across a diversity of sectors and disciplines.
