About Our Group

RMO Material Science Laboratory’s primary mission is to provide analytical test solutions to enable media and product qualification on product yield, quality, and reliability. The team also serves a critical role on HDM tribology, contamination, and defect reduction, working closely with and enabling other functions in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Recording Technology, R&D, Customer Integration, and Manufacturing. This role will report to an Engineering Manager.

About the Role – You will:

Be a team member in next generation Recording media development & product qualification to improve process stability & manufacturability. Task to work with R&D team & Process to support media Carbon and lubricant characterization, interface, and surface contamination analysis.

Perform material science lab test and hands on operation laboratory analytical instruments e.g. XPS, Raman, GDOES & SEM-EDX.

• Work on data analysis and support Work with team to support measurement focus on media Carbon overcoat & sputter layer characterization.
• Work in a team that develops metrology and deploys technical solution to meet the products CTQ and reliability requirements of hard disc drive.
• Work closely with the design functional groups to provide high-level analytical support to product and process engineering team.

About You

• PhD in Material Science/Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry.

Your Experience Includes:

• Specialize in surface techniques & analysis, polymer/ coatings/material characterization.
• Lab skills, including operation of analytical spectroscopic and data analytics techniques.

Responsibilities:

• Develop membrane products, systems and processes for the applications in separation processes, e.g. Nano-filtration, Ultra-filtration etc.
• Execute product development process from bench-scale through commercialization, and continue technical support throughout production.
• Plan and execute lab, pilot and field tests.
• Interact with customers/clients/collaborators to identify new needs and initiate solutions.
• Work with R&D and business units to screen ideas/technologies and conceive technology solutions.
• Work with internal resources, suppliers and development partners to execute projects.
• Cross department and subsidiary or sister companies’ coordination and communication to ensure aligned execution of pilot test project.
• Document project work and report out to management.
• Close working with production team to understand existing product characteristics and explore for any potential application.
• Familiarize with the existing production process and support quality team on documentation preparation.

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma/ Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
• Proven strong team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in membrane development, pilot testing, or water and wastewater treatment is highly desirable
• Microsoft words, excels, power point literate
• Fresh graduates may apply
