The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant / Research Associate in the Sleep and Health Laboratory, Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Research at the Sleep and Health Laboratory focuses on the importance of sleep in cognitive, brain, mental, and physical health. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant / Research Associate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator, collaborators, and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the various studies on time. The Research Assistant / Research Associate’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as IRB application, participant recruitment, data collection and analyses, as well as manuscript and report writing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant / Research Associate will need to:

1. oversee the general management of studies;
2. provide administrative and secretarial support to studies, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other research teams at the Centre for Sleep and Cognition;
3. undertake the day to day running of the various studies, e.g. recruitment, data collection in the laboratory and at participants’ homes;

Qualifications

The applicant should:

3. be able to use SPSS / SAS / R / Matlab; good command of E-prime and Python would be an advantage; and

CNRS@CREATE is looking for a Research Assistant (part-time) to join our SPACE project team.

SPACE PROJECT

The SPACE project is developing a research protocol for infectious disease prediction and prevention in Singapore. The project draws upon analyses of the risk factors and sociospatial patterns that drive dengue and COVID-19 transmission in Singapore, as well as the social and technical skills developed by individuals and community groups in response to disease propagation. Combining insight from the social sciences (geography, architecture and urban design, communication, economics, sociology, public policy) with biology (epidemiology, entomology) and computer science (artificial intelligence, biostatistics), the project will use the concept of “adaptive capacity” (AC) to explore the potential of community-based “latent social capital” (i.e. human, cultural, political, and social) as key assets for adaptive responses to health challenges related to dengue in its interplay with COVID-19.

The project brings together 23 researchers, 10 from France and 13 from five Singaporean universities (NTU, NUS, SUTD, SMU and SUSS). The research will be conducted in several residential areas of Singapore.

SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Corp Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) leverages NUS’s world class deep technology and multi-disciplinary research expertise across Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research and Analytics, Optimisation, Automation, Sleep Studies and Design.

The Corporate Lab aims to develop for Singapore Airlines a new approach to design optimal price tiers for air tickets and manage seat inventory, to help maximize revenues for airlines, leveraging on modern analytical tools and technologies that can perform deep data analytics in airline revenue management system. The current solution provided by its new commercial vendor is adequate but could not address specific issues faced by SIA, including the price elasticity estimation, dynamic pricing and competition considerations etc. These are all unique to SIA and customized solution methodology needs to be developed for these purposes. Expertise, infrastructure and relevant background work done at NUS’s Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA), School of Business, School of Computing and Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management would be tapped on to add value to the proposed projects.

This interdisciplinary research aims to determine the optimal conditions for mangrove, seagrass, coral, and macroalgal establishment and growth within hybrid coastal protection systems in Singapore.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
• Designing protocols to quantify biophysical conditions of both modified and natural tropical coastal habitats
• Carry out intertidal and subtidal biodiversity surveys

Qualifications
