Dr Chen Jinmiao is looking for a motivated Research Associate to join the Centre for Computational Biology (CCB) who will participate in AI-powered analysis of single-cell and spatial omics for precision medicine. The Research Assistant/Associate who will play a key role in assisting in the development, execution and analysis of research aimed at addressing the challenges of training and operating in rising ambient temperatures. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary group comprising exercise and thermal physiologists, data scientists, biomedical engineers and researchers. The Memory Aging & Cognition Centre (MACC) is a Research Center within the National University Health System funded by the Singapore National Medical Research Council that focuses on the study of dementia and cognitive impairment in the elderly. The MACC currently has 4 research themes on (i) neurochemistry, molecular pathology and biomarker discovery, (ii) neuroimaging, (iii) clinical assessment and (iv) epidemiology.

Purpose of the post

The successful candidate should have a strong background in advanced machine learning, artificial intelligence, and bioinformatics techniques with practical applications to biological / -omics data. Specifically, he or she will be responsible for data analysis and for developing advanced computational models, algorithms, and tools to analyse and interpret complex biological datasets derived from multi-omics data. The ideal candidate will combine a strong understanding of advanced statistical, and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and machine learning methods, as well as expertise in programming languages such as R and/or Python with training in biology, biochemistry or a related discipline.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate will work with other team members to develop and validate biological ageing clock algorithms, and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The Research Associate will be able to:

1. Develop and apply computational models, algorithms, and tools to analyse and interpret large-scale biological datasets (e.g. clinical, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics);
2. Collaborate with experimental biologists to design and analyse experiments, and interpret results;
