Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate as a research fellow in the Quantitative Proteomics Core in collaboration with the Kappei lab at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI). Our team addresses research questions on nucleic acid-protein interactions with quantitative mass spectrometry, cell biological and genetic approaches applied to cancer research and we further support research activities at CSI as part of the Quantitative Proteomics Core with quantitative proteomics solutions to study protein expression, protein interactions as well as post-translational modifications.

Proteins are the functional agents in cells, yet the systematic global characterization of their expression and spatial distribution has largely remained limited to the analysis of RNA as a proxy. To close this gap, we have recently expanded the Quantitative Proteomics Core to Clinical Proteomics applications with dedicated instruments including a timsTOF fleX mass spectrometer that allows for dual LC-MS/MS and MALDI imaging analysis. The research fellow will develop innovative workflows for both untargeted and targeted spatial protein imaging applied to the analysis of cancer tissues. We are offering a position in a stimulating, diverse and international research environment as well as the opportunity to gain expertise in a highly demanded technology using state-of-the-art instruments.

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate with expertise in high performance digital design, DSP and mixed signal modeling join our cryogenic CMOS-based quantum control project. This candidate will work closely with our digital and analog design team as well as with the local physics and material designers to develop low-power, high fidelity and highly scalable control and read-out SoC for superconducting qubit-based quantum computing applications.

Job Description:

· Digital IC Design and system-level exploration:

o Lead and contribute to co-optimization between on-chip memory and DSP design and analog front-end (i.e. DAC, BPF, Mixer, LNA and ADC) to ensure high quantum control/readout as well as to optimize power consumption per channel

o Emphasize system-level perspective in the design process, considering overall system architecture and functionality

o Apply a deep understanding of cryogenic temperature effects on digital ICs and implement design strategies for optimal performance in low-temperature environments

o RTL implementation for custom circuit design using Verilog/SystemVerilog with focus on DDS, Filter and Error Correction Code

· Simulation, Verification, and Implementation:

o Conduct thorough simulation and verification of mixed signal designs to validate quantum control fidelity and digital-analog interface throughput

o Utilize FPGA in digital IC designs, leveraging its flexibility and reconfigurability for system emulation and architecture exploration

o Perform timing analysis and collaborate with the team to optimize designs for timing closure

• Publish research works in prestigious conferences and Journals such as ISSCC, VLSI Symp, A-SSCC, DAC, JSSC and TCAS-I/II
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to seamlessly integrate digital ICs into the overall system architecture
• Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and reports
• Troubleshoot and debug digital IC designs with a focus on identifying and addressing system-level issues
• Bring creative and innovative solutions to design challenges. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
• Test and verify fabricated chip using FPGA and other lab equipment such as logic analyzer and oscilloscope

Requirements: Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. The candidate should have prior experiences in IC tape-out of digital/mixed signal SoC and system level modelling and optimization using industry standard tools from leading EDA vendors such as Cadence, Synopsis and Matlab.

Job Profile Summary - Research Associate

This role designs, plans and conducts biological experiments based on cell culture techniques and molecular biological analyses within the Biological Evaluation group of the Evonik Skin Institute. It also facilitates in vitro claim substantiation for new product developments and customer projects for the Personal Care market. The holder of this position supports in research of new methods and techniques to strengthen the testing portfolio of the Evonik Skin Institute.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design of experiments:

• Independent study of literature, based on this independent evaluation of cell culture studies with molecular biological analyses
• Independent research of technical literature to identify and introduce new protocols to improve existing processes and support new product development and customer projects
• Support of safety trainings together with the laboratory manager

Experimental procedure:

• Independent execution of cell culture studies with molecular biological analyses on the basis of very good knowledge of complex biological experimental procedures and molecular biological methods
• Independent development and optimization of new analysis methods

Experimental evaluation:

• Independent evaluation of cell culture studies with molecular biological analyses and conclusion for further studies
• Data analysis and data interpretation
• New cell culture method development based on the experience of existing ones
• Preparation of test reports for internal and external partners/customers in English
• Presentation of the results in technical meetings in English
• Complete and immediate documentation of the tests carried out and the results obtained in appropriate format

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor or preferably Master of Science in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or comparable
• 3-5 years professional experience preferably in the cosmetic market or skin research
• Special knowledge and experience in biological processes, especially in human skin, cell culture techniques, molecular biological methods, mathematical and statistical evaluation of biological data
• Safe handling of MS 365, esp. Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint
• Very good written and spoken English skills
• Strong communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team
• Independent way of working, flexibility
• Reliability and willingness to learn
