The stage R&D department develops new technologies and products for the stage business unit. Host Pathogen Interactions in A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the lab.

We are seeking a talented and collaborative post-doctoral researcher to work in the broad scope of host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases. The lab has various funded projects on the comparison of host-alphavirus interactions at the immune response level in vivo in animal models through a novel viral-centric and multiOmic approach. Other projects include immune response evaluation of vaccine adjuvant candidates, development of cell-based reporter systems of viral infections to facilitate and accelerate antiviral studies, as well as development of novel vaccine strategies.

The candidate will be expected to work on funded projects as well as develop novel research projects in the scope of the lab research interests to be able to apply to the various early career development schemes both at an internal and external national level. Virus studied in the lab are positive sense RNA viruses as well as some negative sense RNA viruses. Animals models available in the lab include mice and zebrafish.

Research Fellow in Soft Materials Science (Biophysical Characterisation of Food Textures)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our dynamic research team focusing on the biophysical characterisation of food textures and their molecular building blocks. As part of the Proteins4Singapore project, the Research Fellow will contribute to innovative methodologies for nano- and micro- scale structural characterization of complex soft matter. This position plays a critical role in advancing sustainable protein solutions for urban environments through interdisciplinary collaboration, drawing expertise from physical chemistry, food science, and soft matter physics. This is a fixed term contract until March 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct experimental studies on protein hydration, emulsification, gelation, and phase separation in food systems.
• Perform experimental work related to nano- and micro- structuring, utilizing advanced biophysical characterization techniques such as X-ray, neutron, and light scattering, as well as other spectroscopic and imaging methods.
• Develop and apply new methods for studying nanoscale wetting, protein hydrophobicity, and viscoelastic properties of complex food textures using acoustic and scanning probe techniques.

A postdoctoral research fellow position in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for spatial omics and precision medicine is available at the Loo Lab in the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, Singapore. The group develops next-generation spatial omics assays, cellular phenotype analysis methods, and machine learning models to predict patient drug responses. The group also develops and manages the HistoPath Analytics (HPA) Platform and ImmunoAtlas (https://ImmunoAtlas.org) for automated management, visualization, and analysis of large multiplex tissue images and spatial multi-omics data.

The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on the development of new biomarkers and image analysis methods for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine. His/her main responsibility is to develop and apply novel AI and ML models and methods for analyzing large multiplex tissue images and spatial transcriptomic and metabolomic data collected from cancer patients. The candidate will also perform computational algorithm implementation and benchmarking, present research findings at international conferences, and publish in high-impact scientific journals. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly stimulating environment, and collaborate closely with biologists, physicians, and pathologists.
