Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving REL trucks to collect waste refuse, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of waste to the disposal sites, and maintaining the truck's condition. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, effective communication, and commitment to high service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Waste Collection: Drive and operate a Rear-End Loader (REL) truck to collect waste refuse in accordance with the scheduled routes and within the designated timeframes.
- Service/Delivery Forms: Accurately fill in and submit service/delivery order forms for each waste collection, ensuring all necessary details are recorded correctly.
- Daily Vehicle Checks: Perform daily checks on the truck before and after each shift, ensuring it is in good working condition. Record findings and report any issues to the relevant personnel.
- Waste Disposal: Safely transport waste to the incineration plant or designated disposal sites, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company procedures.
- Minor Maintenance: Conduct routine minor maintenance tasks on the truck, including greasing, fluid top-ups, and other basic upkeep to maintain vehicle performance.
- Truck Cleaning: Wash and clean the truck both externally and internally, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Other Duties: Assist with other related tasks as required to support waste disposal operations, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
Job Requirements:
- Valid Driving License: Possess a valid Class 3 driving license (or higher) with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Prior experience in driving waste collection vehicles, such as Rear-End Loaders, or similar heavy-duty trucks is preferred.
- Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures for operating waste collection vehicles and handling waste.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including manual tasks and operating the truck in various weather conditions.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills for reporting maintenance issues and collaborating with team members.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and detail when completing service orders, vehicle checks, and maintenance records.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth waste collection and disposal operations.
