Responsibilities:
- Indicate and label every sample that is brought into the lab.
- Set up the samples by pulverizing, dividing, crushing, and drying them.
- Blend agents and samples and prepare for fire assaying.
- Integrate acid digestion reagents.
- Execute fire assay procedures.
- Conduct precious metal smelting and sample extraction.
- Laboratory setup and draft SOPs for Fire Assay procedures.
- Oversee analytical procedures and correct any deviations or discrepancies.
- Advise the lab manager of any instrument or equipment malfunctioning.
- Examine prills, lead buttons, fusions before utilizing.
- Documentation and have the responsibility for the materials and equipment utilized.
- Assist with general and preventive maintenance of the lab's apparatus and housekeeping.
- Optimize productivity among other employees.
- Provide assistance with the application process of government licenses.
- Assure and uphold appropriate cupels, fire assay and water generated sample disposal.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Chemistry or equivalent.
- At least 3 years' experience of fire assaying.
- Prior experience in configuring machinery and procedures to recover precious metals is advantegous
- Prior experience using an ICP or XRF.
