To support us in this high-priority function, we are looking for a talented and experienced professional to be based in our Singapore HQ to take on the role of:
Key responsibilities of this role entail:
- Operational Leadership: Take full responsibility for the efficient and effective management of all operational activities related to Agri-commodity trade support, including but not limited to shipping document preparation, Letters of Credit, and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Team Management & Development: Lead and mentor a team of operations professionals, providing guidance on operational best practices and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Ensure that the team is well-equipped to handle day-to-day challenges and manage large-scale contracts effectively.
- Strategic Oversight: Oversee the end-to-end process of bulk vessel shipments and other logistical requirements, ensuring that all shipments are executed in line with agreed timelines, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with senior stakeholders, including Traders, Origination Desks, Shipping Desk, to ensure alignment on trade activities and optimize operational workflows across departments.
- High-Risk, Large-Value Contracts: Manage and execute high-risk, high-value contracts, ensuring all documentation, compliance, and operational processes are meticulously handled to minimize risk and ensure successful completion.
- Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements across the operations function, leveraging technology and best practices to increase operational efficiency, minimize errors, and deliver timely and cost-effective solutions to the business.
- Ensure all operational activities are compliant with industry standards, including international trade regulations, Letters of Credit (ICC rules), GAFTA, FOSFA, and Incoterms. Act as a key advisor to senior management regarding operational risks and mitigation strategies.
Required Experience/Background
- Educational Background: A minimum of GCE ‘A’ Level or Diploma in International Trade, Import & Export, or related fields. A bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Professional Experience: At least 6+ years of progressive experience in an Agri-Business/Trading Company, with proven expertise in managing operations for soft commodity trading, bulk shipments, and trade support functions. Experience in a managerial role is essential.
- Leadership & People Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, effectively managing both people and operational resources.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of commodity trading, including familiarity with GAFTA, FOSFA, and ICC rules for Letters of Credit. Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade practices is crucial.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with advanced spreadsheet and data analysis skills. Experience with trade management software or ERP systems is a plus.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively at all levels.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an independent mindset to tackle operational challenges. Proven ability to identify areas of improvement and implement solutions to enhance business performance.
- Attention to Detail & Organizational Skills: Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in managing large and complex operations.
