What you’ll do as an Options Trader at Akuna:

We are seeking experienced Options Traders to join our dynamic team at Akuna Capital. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with a desire to make an immediate impact. Akuna gives all new Traders the opportunity to learn from the most successful members of our trading team and apply their previously gained knowledge and experience quickly.

As an experienced Trader at Akuna, you will leverage your previous market making experience with our proprietary technology to quickly add value to our growing market making business.

Qualities that make great candidates:

• 2+ years of market making experience (responsibility for PnL and risk)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science or a related/equivalent field
• Strong math aptitude, numerical and quantitative analysis skills
• Programming and automation experience strongly preferred
• Entrepreneurial self-starter ready to work in a fast paced, team environment

What you’ll do as a C++ Developer at Akuna:

We are looking for motivated, self-starters to join the growing engineering team and contribute to the build-out of our proprietary options market-making trading platform. You will focus on analysis, design, implementation, and testing & delivery of Akuna’s trading system using the latest technologies. A pragmatic approach to technology solutions using the latest open source software will be required. The successful candidate will be given a unique level of exposure to an industry-leading team of options traders who participate fully in the design and on-going enhancements to our proprietary trading platform. In this role, you will:

• Design and build mission critical and complex trading systems
• Plan, design and implement high quality Linux services using modern C++ technologies
• Build software using Agile methodologies
• Participate in design sessions and code reviews
• Work on cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and solve complex problems

Qualities that make great candidates:

• 3+ years of experience developing high-performance, scalable applications in modern C++
• A working knowledge C++17/20
• Experience with Linux and Python required
• Understanding of distributed systems, data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design
• Practical use of multi-threaded/multi-core programming paradigms
• Object-oriented design and programming experience
• A curiosity about and demonstrated interest in C++ language and modern CPU architecture is a plus
• Ability to take on projects and drive them through to completion
• Familiarity with trading and trading systems is a plus, though definitely not a requirement (we have internal training for this)
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent

What you’ll do as a Quantitative Researcher at Akuna:

Akuna’s Quantitative Trading and Research team is looking to add Quant Researchers to a team of mathematicians, statisticians and technologists. This team creates trading strategies scientifically by combining its quantitative expertise with a sophisticated understanding of derivatives and financial markets. We are looking for talented researchers who can apply and develop machine learning algorithms to contribute to Akuna’s strategy portfolio. In this role, you will:

• Develop trading strategies using statistical and machine learning algorithms
• Help identify, design, backtest and optimize low latency strategies using big data
• Build metrics to evaluate strategy execution and perform post trade analysis
• Design and implement optimization algorithms for portfolio construction
• Develop quantitative models describing market behavior
• Advance existing initiatives and explore opportunities for new research topics

Requirements:

• 3+ years of strong professional work experience in statistics, machine learning, option trading or related area
• BS/MS/PhD degree in a technical field – Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, Physics, or similar
• Proven research background in academic or professional environment
• Experience building mathematical models for complex real-world problems
• Expertise in statistics
• Programming skills in Python

What you’ll do as a Software Engineer at Akuna:
Akuna is looking for a Software Engineer/Python Developer to join our development team to build and enhance our Core Systems and Infrastructure. The Ideal candidate will work with developers, operations, and traders to build robust distributed systems, both on existing systems and new initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, and a keen interest in designing and building microservices, and user applications. As a member of our development team, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our low latency trading systems. You will:

• Collaborate with traders, developers, and other cross-functional teams to understand the requirements for shared systems.
• Develop across the tech stack, from microservice back-ends to APIs, Front Ends, Data Infrastructure and Analysis, Automation, and more. Primarily using Python.
• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our trading systems to meet the demands of high-frequency trading.
• Implement and optimize configurations to support efficient trading operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly to minimize impact on trading activities.
• Work with stakeholders across the business to understand business problems and propose technical solutions.
• Execute the full software development life cycle (requirements analysis, design, development, unit testing, execute and deployment, and post implementation support).
• Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to the team.

Qualities that make great candidates:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 2 - 5 years’ experience writing Python applications.
• Solid programming skills in Python, with a focus on high-performance and low-latency systems.
• Demonstrated delivery of software solutions which provide measurable business benefits.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker and Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks (e.g., React, Flask).
• Familiarity with trading and trading systems is a plus, though definitely not a requirement (we have internal training for this)
