The Role

• Manage and maintain the full set of accounts
• Managing company’s project performance
• Prepare quarterly reports for review and clearly present the results and status to various stakeholders on a regular basis
• Key personnel in maintaining, analysing, and forecasting project cost to project team and management
• Active involvement in budgeting and forecasting processes; administer and review all project forecasts and actual, explain and correct variances on a monthly basis
• Liaise with external auditors to conduct statutory audit and interim audit
• Actively reviewing and recommending measures for continuous improvement in project management and reporting processes
• Present updated financial data and actively attends project management meeting to review cost status
• Review and provide accurate project payment respond and invoices for payment

Job Title: Accountant

Our client are a well-established construction company looking for a highly motivated and experienced Accountant. The role involves managing and maintaining the full set of accounts, ensuring effective project financial management, and providing key financial insights to various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the full set of accounts for the company.
• Oversee the company’s project performance by delivering operational KPIs and liaising with internal Project Managers.
• Prepare quarterly reports, presenting financial results and status to stakeholders on a regular basis.
• Monitor and manage Work in Progress (WIP) for each project, ensuring that the revenue and costs related to ongoing projects are accurately recorded on a project-by-project basis.
• Play a key role in maintaining, analyzing, and forecasting project costs for both project teams and management, ensuring WIP is correctly calculated and reflected in financial statements.
• Actively contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes; review project forecasts and actuals, and explain and correct any variances monthly, including WIP adjustments.
• Regularly update WIP status to ensure correct recognition of revenue and expenses in line with project progress, ensuring accurate profit/loss reporting.
• Liaise with external auditors to conduct statutory and interim audits, ensuring WIP is accurately represented during audits.
• Continuously review and recommend improvements for project management and reporting processes, including WIP tracking and reporting.
• Present updated financial data during project management meetings to review cost status, including WIP reports.
• Review and process project payment requests and invoices for payment, ensuring they align with the WIP figures for proper revenue recognition.
• Perform ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Preferably with experience in the construction industry, particularly in project-based financial management.
• Knowledge of Work in Progress (WIP) accounting and revenue recognition methods on a project basis.
• Strong understanding of project cost management and financial reporting.
• Proficient in accounting software and MS Excel.
• Ability to analyze financial data, forecast project costs, and prepare reports.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
