- Lead and manage the export shipping team by planning and implementing strategies and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in both service and transit time performance.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Chairman and Joint CEO to serve new and existing customers.
- Work with the Import Shipping Manager to set the shipping department’s KPIs.
- Lead and manage ISO9001 records.
- Train and improve the quality of work produced by the export shipping team.
- Stay well-versed in import and export operational and customs processes; monitor and ensure all customs permit declarations comply with Singapore Customs Regulations and those of other countries (e.g., Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Middle East, Bangladesh, etc.).
- Manage vendors, including contractors, hauliers, transporters, and other business-related vendors.
- Negotiate the best freight rates offered for shipment routes by forwarders and handle vessel bookings.
- Manage and prepare the complete set of shipping documents (invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, customers’ required certificates, insurance policy, beneficiary’s certificate, bank draft, bank schedule, and other required documents) ensuring they are legalized.
- Manage and prepare the full set of shipping documents based on Letters of Credit.
- Work closely with new and existing customers to develop and provide feasible logistics solutions.
- Handle inquiries, complaints, and disputes from customers and/or shipping lines and manage shipment-related internal communications.
- Oversee daily operations and transactions in the forwarding area.
- Liaise with the quality team and relevant statutory authorities for inspections.
- Prepare and manage sales contracts, forecasts, and reports, and analyze all reports.
- Plan and monitor shipment activities.
- Issue sales contracts and work orders.
- Negotiate extensions of free time with shipping lines.
- Verify bills on warehousing loading charges and production packing costs.
- Perform ad-hoc duties/tasks as assigned by the company.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant managerial experience in manufacturing or a related industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software (e.g., Navision).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- A dynamic team leader with a positive working attitude, capable of organizing and leading a small team to achieve business excellence.
