The Senior Tax Specialist will be part of the APAC Tax team based in Singapore, reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, focused on the group’s entities and activities in Singapore and Malaysia, with responsibilities of the tax matters of other jurisdictions around APAC region as the capacity allows.
Responsibilities :
- Assist the Senior Tax Manager in managing the preparation and submission of direct & indirect tax returns for the ams OSRAM group’s Singapore, Malaysia entities, in particular, Corporate tax, withholding tax, GST and other taxes
- Tax accounting supports including calculation of current tax and deferred tax for accounting period end, return-to-provision true-up, proposing accounting entries, review of tax booking voucher and tax disclosure note for audited report.
- Provide support on tax planning, tax advisory and tax improvement projects
- Provide support on transfer pricing management, including review of local transfer pricing documentations. Liasing with external tax agents to manage and resolve any tax queries and audits from the relevant tax authorities.
- Collaborating with inhouse finance personnel and other business units to compile, analyse and provide the required information for tax returns and incentives updates.
- Manage and handle tax incentives and manufacturing license conditions in Malaysia including liaise with external auditors and government authority for compliance of incentive conditions and direct management attention on exception and propose solutions.
- Collaborating with different stakeholder to compile required information for application of tax incentive in Singapore and Malaysia.
- Manage and coordinate grant claim information compilation, audit and submission to government authority.
- Assists in the continuous review and improvement of tax policies, procedures and processes.
- Keep abreast of new developments in local and regional tax laws that may affect the Group’s tax position.
- Assist with ad-hoc assignments such as tax deregistration and tax audit.
- Assist with tax management of other APAC countries, reviewing the tax compliance work, working with external tax agents in cross-border tax topics and tax cases.
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess at least a Professional Degree in Finance/Accountancy or ACCA
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in a Big 4 Accounting firm or MNC.
- Possess strong technical knowledge of Singapore and Malaysia tax laws and regulations (both direct and indirect taxes)
- Knowledge and practical experiences in accounting for tax related work
- Experience in indirect taxes.
- Understanding and experiences in handling common international tax topics would be a bonus
- Strong communication skills to liaise with tax counterparts (internal& external) from Singapore, Malaysia, China and other APAC countries.
