Role Overview:
The Associate Counsellor Intern role is designed for individuals pursuing or who have completed a bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field. This internship provides hands-on experience in a professional mental health setting, offering opportunities to support client care, develop counselling-related skills, and contribute to administrative and operational duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Screening and Triage:
- Conduct initial client intake through structured interviews or pre-session questionnaires to gather relevant information.
- Perform triage to assess the urgency and complexity of client needs, determining priority levels for scheduling and services.
- Identify cases requiring immediate attention, such as crisis intervention or potential risks, and escalate them to senior counsellors or psychologists promptly.
- Refer clients to appropriate in-house services (psychology, yoga, or nutrition).
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of the triage process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with data protection standards.
Client and Customer Services:
- Provide empathetic and professional support to clients, addressing queries and ensuring a smooth experience with the clinic’s services.
- Foster a welcoming environment for all clients, whether in-person, over the phone, or online.
Receptionist Duties:
- Manage client scheduling, including bookings, rescheduling, and follow-up reminders.
- Handle calls and correspondence while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Administrative and Operational Support:
- Maintain accurate and secure client records in line with data protection regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of materials for therapy sessions, workshops, and events.
- Coordinate with other departments, including psychology, yoga, and nutrition teams, to ensure seamless clinic operations.
Professional Development:
- Attend training sessions, supervision, and team meetings to deepen knowledge of counselling practices.
- Participate in research or projects that contribute to client care or organisational growth.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or having completed a bachelor’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build rapport and show empathy.
- Organisational skills and a proactive approach to administrative tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling tools.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

- Prior experience or coursework in counselling or mental health.
