Key Responsibilities:
- Database Administration: Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances and related products.
Manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
Implement and maintain database security, including roles, users, and permissions.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify issues, and apply necessary optimizations.
Conduct regular database performance tuning and query optimization.
Utilize tools and techniques for database performance monitoring and tuning (e.g., SQL Profiler, Index Tuning Wizard).
- Backup & Recovery: Develop, implement, and test backup and recovery plans.
Perform regular backups and ensure the integrity of backup data.
Manage database restore processes and perform disaster recovery drills.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Clustering, and Replication.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Database Design & Architecture: Assist in database design, including data modeling and schema design.
Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and performance.
Provide recommendations on database architecture and best practices.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts for database automation tasks, such as backups, monitoring, and deployments.
Utilize PowerShell and other scripting languages for automation and task scheduling.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide 24/7 support for production databases.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity issues, and data integrity problems.
Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all database-related processes, configurations, and procedures.
Generate reports on database performance, usage, and capacity planning.
Keep track of database growth and provide forecasts for future requirements.
