Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship Limited (Aranya) is a registered non-profit buddhist organisation (UEN 202020882E) that supports community-based Buddhist monastics in Singapore to live in the community and age with dignity. Most of the Buddhist monastics are elderly or live alone. Aranya organises regular Sangha offerings, fellowship activities and provides support services such as medical escort, volunteer visitation, legal consultation, information and referral, and annual spring cleanings.

We are looking for a part-time Project Officer who can assist us with a project that aims to understand the needs of community-based monastics so that we can serve them better. The Project Officer will be working alongside dedicated social workers in hybrid working arrangements:

Project Officer (Part-time)

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Project Officer will provide effective support in the following areas:

• Data entry, processing, and management
• Recruiting and briefing of participants and volunteers
• Conducting interviews
• Writing reports
• Project management, logistics, and administrative work (e.g., scheduling, photocopying, etc)
• Assist with other duties assigned.

Technical Competencies:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree preferably in Social Sciences
• Experience with data and project management
• Able to use Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets competently to deal with survey data
• Preferably with experience in conducting interviews is a bonus
• Third and fourth year students completing their undergraduate studies are welcome to apply

Core Competencies:

• Meticulous and strong interpersonal skills
• Able to communicate empathetically and professionally.
• Proficient in writing and speaking in English and Mandarin.

Preferred achievements / characteristics:

• Basic knowledge of Buddhist etiquette and willingness to be further briefed about the 3 Buddhist traditions in preparation for contact with participants.
• Passionate and committed to work with ageing population

Nature of Work

• Part-time basis
• Work minimally 3 days a week
• April to July 2024
• Hybrid work arrangement
