Designation: Business Controller
Role Type: Permanent
Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and dotted line to Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Office Location: Singapore, Central-West
Overview:
The ideal candidate for this Business Controller role will be an energetic individual who is responsible for audit across the organisation’s various subsidiaries, ensuring proper compliance with all relevant policies and guidelines as well as managing process exceptions together with all process owners. This includes reporting identified risks and control deficiencies and to ensure follow-up actions to close gaps are taken.
The Business Controller will also manage documentation of processes and SOPs across subsidiaries; ensuring that relevant documentation is up to date so that business processes are efficient. Where new companies are incorporated, the Business Controller shall support the set up and ensure business and financial processes are implemented with reference to existing processes in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Internal Audit
- Develop internal audit procedures and relevant programs aligned to business processes of individual job assignment
- Evaluate and provide reasonable assurance for risk management, control and governance systems and ensure that they are functioning as intended, thus enabling the organisation's objectives and goals are met
- Implement frequent process audit across subsidiaries to ensure compliance with all related policies and guidelines, as well as managing process exceptions together with all process owners
- Report risk management issues and internal controls deficiencies to relevant stakeholders and provide recommendations to improve the organisation's operations
- Ensure open communication with various stakeholders and team members so as to present key issues clearly
2) Processes
- Partner organisation subsidiaries for the implementation of their process handbooks & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by liaising with key stakeholders and local process owners
- Responsible for all SOPs that involve multiple entities to ensure complete buy-in of stakeholders
- Examine current SOPs in the APAC organisation and recommend necessary changes to improve efficiency, re-enforce internal controls and to better serve customers in a fast-growing environment
- Partner local management and key process owners in the implementation of the necessary improvements
- Ensure constant update of internal processes and SOPs in line with the growth of the business
- Partner the IT team on best rollout methods for sharing of processes and SOPs among the organisation
3) Others
- Partner the CFO for new company set up and relevant corporate governance matters
- Ensure business and financial processes for new companies are implemented with reference to existing processes in the organisation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other related professional qualification
- Min 3 years of progressive audit experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter, strong interpersonal skills with a proactive and positive attitude
- Strong team player with initiative and ability to communicate effectively coupled with good presentation skills
- Ability to perform under tight timelines and complete relevant work required for each assignment up to expected work standards
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%) on assignment to subsidiary offices
- Proficiency in English and other Asian language(s) is an advantage
