Our Consultants work as members of case teams in roles that vary by the team’s objective. Consultants immediately join case teams and become involved in the formulation and implementation of strategic recommendations to improve the performance of Bain’s clients. Consultants gather data in the field, analyze the findings, make client presentations, and work with clients to implement Bain’s recommendations

• Take ownership and responsibility for assigned work streams related to the development, design and implementation of corporate business strategies, functional capabilities and enhanced client performance
• Utilize expertise to formulate strategic plans in areas such as: cost reduction; customer retention; process re-engineering; organizational design and effectiveness; market analysis, branding and definition; quality management; strategic acquisition and divestiture
• Analyze statistical and market data, perform financial analysis and cash flow/portfolio calculations, and develop experience curves, turnover and profit predictions
• Design sophisticated financial models to analyze and quantify time-based competition and cost behavior and to simulate implementation of strategic advice
• Confer with client personnel and conduct operational effectiveness reviews to assure smooth functioning of newly implemented practices, programs, and/or systems
• Work collaboratively as member of a case team and with other colleagues.
• Advance degree (or BA with relevant work experience) preferred
• Strong analytic and logic skills
• Outstanding interpersonal skills; comfort in both leadership and support roles
• High level of motivation
• Ability to exercise business judgment and communicate persuasive conclusions and insights
• Ability to effectively present data and respond to questions from colleagues, teams, and clients (both in writing and verbally)
• Ability to project poise, confidence and maturity in both internal and external situations
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them within very tight timeframes
• Ability to serve a full range of client assignments

Typical responsibilities include gathering and interpreting data, presenting the findings and making recommendations to case team members and clients regarding various aspects of clients’ operations.

Responsibilities:

• Work independently and with team members to identify information sources.
• Demonstrate effective and creative approaches to data gathering and analysis.
• Interview industry participants, as well as other Bain employees with relevant experience to develop complex analytic models and insights.
• Design and execute Excel models to perform sophisticated analysis; present findings and recommendations to case team members.
• Build collaborative relationships with and respect from clients.
• Formulate and communicate business insights and gain client support for analysis and conclusions.
• Work collaboratively as member of a case team and with other colleagues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or higher with strong academic performance, demonstrated quantitative background and abilities
• Strong analytical and logic skills
• High level of motivation
• Outstanding interpersonal skills
• Ability to exercise business judgment and communicate persuasive conclusions and insights
• Ability to effectively present data and respond to questions from colleagues, teams, and clients (both in writing and verbally)
