Summary
A Postdoctoral Scholar position is available for 3 years (extendable by one more year) to work on a collaborative project on decarbonization. The position will be hired at Berkeley Education Alliance for Research in Singapore (BEARS) under Prof. Matthew Sherburne (Director, BEARS) and will be based at A*STAR’s Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy and Environment (ISCE2) to work closely with Dr. Amol Amrute and co-supervised by Prof. Matthew Sherburne and Prof. Kedar Hippalgaonkar (Nanyang Technological University, NTU). The multi-institutional project involves AI, Machine learning, high throughput experimentation, and automation, with participants and collaborators from BEARS, NTU, ISCE2, NUS, and UC Berkeley, offering an exciting opportunity to work with international experts in the field, learn and develop new relevant skills, and build an international network.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute to developing efficient catalysts for thermocatalytic CO2 conversion to chemicals and fuels.
- Synthesis of solid catalysts and characterization of catalytic properties using advanced methods.
- Operating single tube and high throughput catalytic reactor systems and data analysis.
- Drafting manuscripts and research progress reports.
- Communication of results by presenting at project meetings.
Qualifications
- PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials.
- Strong knowledge of heterogeneous catalysis, material synthesis, and surface characterization.
- Previous experience in catalyst design for thermocatalytic CO2 conversion is an advantage.
- Proactive, team player and good problem-solving skills.
- Data analysis and interpretation.
- Excellent oral/written communication.
