We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Development Director to lead growth initiatives and drive sales strategies within our agriculture sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and nurturing client relationships, and driving business-to-business (B2B) sales. This role is essential in expanding our presence in the agriculture sector, developing key partnerships, and contributing to long-term business success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for the agriculture division.
Identify emerging markets, key prospects, and innovative opportunities in the agricultural industry.
Establish sales targets, performance metrics, and business development goals to increase revenue.
- Client Acquisition & Relationship Management:Build strong relationships with agricultural businesses, government agencies, NGOs, and industry stakeholders.
Manage client accounts from prospecting to contract signing, ensuring high client satisfaction and retention.
Develop tailored consultancy solutions to meet the needs of B2B clients in the agriculture sector.
- Sales Leadership:Lead the business-to-business sales process by identifying potential clients, developing proposals, and negotiating contracts.
Drive the sales cycle from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring the achievement of sales targets.
Collaborate with internal teams to align consultancy offerings with client needs and market demand.
- Market Research & Analysis:Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify industry trends, opportunities, and challenges.
Stay up-to-date with technological advancements, regulatory changes, and best practices in agriculture.
Provide insights and recommendations to enhance the company’s consultancy offerings and competitive position.
- Partnership Development:Forge strategic partnerships with relevant organizations, suppliers, and industry influencers to enhance market presence.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote consultancy services.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration:Mentor and manage a team of business development professionals, providing direction and support.
Collaborate with the consultancy and technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions that align with client expectations.
Work cross-functionally to optimize service delivery and drive client success.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, or a related field (MBA or master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, B2B sales, or consultancy services within the agriculture sector.
Proven track record of driving business growth, securing high-value deals, and managing key client relationships.
- Skills & Competencies:Agriculture Expertise: Strong understanding of the agricultural sector, including crop management, supply chains, agribusiness, and technological innovations.
B2B Sales Mastery: Demonstrated experience in leading B2B sales efforts, including pipeline management, negotiation, and closing deals.
Relationship Building: Exceptional ability to build and maintain long-term partnerships with clients, stakeholders, and partners.
Strategic Thinking: Proactive in identifying growth opportunities, solving complex problems, and adapting to market shifts.
Communication & Negotiation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and negotiate effectively.
Leadership: Strong leadership qualities with experience in managing teams, setting objectives, and driving results.
Analytical & Research Skills: Proficiency in market analysis, business planning, and understanding client needs in the agriculture industry.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in CRM software, sales automation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of agricultural technologies and sustainability practices will be an added advantage.
