A Brighton Montessori Centre Director (CD) is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the school on a daily basis. The CD leads the team of teaching staff in promoting the programme and curriculum, and is responsible for ensuring optimal learning outcomes for children. The CD, as the head of the school, is at the forefront of the programme, actively advocating for optimal learning and meaningful 21st century pedagogies. She is committed to presenting and maintaining the brand image of the school and the professional image of the staff. - At least a Bachelor degree, ideally a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education
- Excellent communication skills - spoken and written English
- Strong interpersonal skills, work with all levels of staff, professionals, parents and families, and community partners from diverse nationalities and cultures
- 10 years of early childhood experience; specifically in a management and leadership position
Roles and responsibilities
- Reports to the Head of Brand (HOB)
- Responsible for all aspects of the programme; operations, business, estate management, curriculum, office management and administration, staff management, training and development, event management, enrolment and marketing, advocacy and networking activities.
- Curriculum leadership - leads and drives the curriculum, maintains the consistency and quality in curriculum standards and deliverables through monitoring of the quality of planning, teaching, evaluation and assessment. This also includes ensuring that resources in terms of physical furnishings, facilities, classroom environment and teaching materials are available to support the teaching and learning process.
- Operation excellence - excellence and quality standards pertaining to children’s health, hygiene and safety practices, and ensuring that SOPs for administrative and recording pertaining to these operational functions are consistently delivered at an optimal level, and meet licensing standards.
- Staff management and development - management of staff welfare, benefits and compensation, team building and bonding activities, continuous learning, training and development of all levels of staff.
- Business continuity and enrolment - management of enrolment, budget and achievement of financial targets. Centre director actively promotes and markets the programme to support the continuous enrolment stability and growth.
- Building customers relations by establishing customer-centric parent-school collaborations and partnerships that prioritize on building trust and confidence. Centre director takes on the role of a resource and parent liaison person in coordinating and maintaining ongoing parent communication and parent engagement.
- Innovation and research - Supports innovation efforts and initiatives by supporting the piloting and review of new curriculum strategies, ideas and action research in the school.
- Monitor outcomes - Closely monitors curriculum outcomes and the performance of children and teachers by managing the process of child assessment, tracking child outcomes and achievement of curriculum goals.
- Networking and advocacy - serves as the Odyssey expert and resource person, promotes and advocatesthe brand through advocacy initiatives, school and community events as well as home-school partnership and parent education programmes.
