OVERVIEW

CNBC Digital is looking to hire an Associate Editor on the APAC team, based in Singapore under a Fixed-Term Contract for 12 months. In this role, you will collaborate with CNBC’s digital news team during Asia’s business day to assign, edit and write stories – all while meeting tight deadlines. You should have strong planning skills, some experience in mentoring junior reporters, and a desire to excel at curating the front page of a website while effectively communicating across teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Deputy Managing Editor in overseeing a diverse team of journalists
• Act as the hot-seat for CNBC.com, managing and updating site content with strong editorial judgment and knowledge of business and financial news
• Assign and edit stories relevant to the APAC region
• Organize workflow and maintain the editorial calendar
• Brainstorm and pitch compelling features ideas that align with CNBC’s editorial strategy
• Write breaking news headlines quickly for mobile notifications, ensuring both accuracy and an appropriate tone
• Write breaking news and analysis stories as needed
• Act as a copy editor for CNBC.com, ensuring that all stories, features, video descriptions, and interactive content meet the highest quality standards and are published promptly

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Extensive knowledge of CNBC’s content and subject material, with a strong interest in financial markets, economics, technology and politics
• Strong understanding of global financial markets and the interplay between different economies and markets
• Proven experience in updating websites, news editing or hot-seating at a wire service
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay composed in a fast-paced news environment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and across all departments and locations
• Excellent verbal communication skills, combined with strong research and succinct writing skills
• Demonstrated self-starter, with the confidence to make quick decisions in a fast-paced news environment
• Familiarity with social media platforms, especially X
• Fluency in English language

OVERVIEW

The Newsletter Editor will help develop and execute CNBC International’s newsletter strategy.
A confident newsletter curator, the Newsletter Editor will support the international Digital Managing Editor to develop a slate of newsletters, write & edit newsletters, and create a playbook for growing our pool of newsletter subscribers.

You will work in close collaboration with newsrooms in Singapore and London as well as social media, strategy & marketing teams. The ideal candidate will be passionate about newsletters, adept at using data to inform editorial decisions, and communicating opportunities to internal stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create a roster of newsletters through optimizing existing newsletters and developing new newsletters
• Curate, write and edit newsletters on a daily basis
• Work closely with editors and reporters to curate original reporting into newsletters
• Grow CNBC International’s newsletter subscriber base through the use of data and collaborating with social media and marketing teams to promote our newsletters
• Track the performance of our newsletters and communicate findings to newsroom leaders on a regular basis

OVERVIEW

The Deputy Managing Editor, International will lead the digital editorial team in APAC, shaping news and features coverage, acting as deputy to the Managing Editor on decision-making for International Digital, and updating the global site with fresh content on a real-time basis. The role is based in Singapore, and reports to the Managing Editor, CNBC International Digital based in London.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Form a digital news and coverage strategy on a daily and longer-term basis for CNBC.com in APAC
• Support the Digital Managing Editor to execute upon their content strategy for CNBC.com International, driving our editorial agenda to the highest possible standard
• Strong partnership with the Digital Managing Editor, acting as a secondary decision-maker for CNBC International on an as-needed basis, reinforcing editorial guidance provided by the Managing Editor to stakeholders both inside and outside CNBC.com, and standing ready to make unplanned, global editorial decisions
• Consult with senior TV producers in APAC on coverage decisions during and outside of APAC market hours to ensure that CNBC.com has a complementary editorial presence across all media
• Lead the APAC-based Digital team, made up of Editors, Correspondents, Writers, and Video Editors based in Singapore and China
• Provide guidance and support to the line managers in your department, providing opportunities for training and career development and fostering collaborating across teams and bureaus
• Act as a hot seater for CNBC.com, updating the site in a timely manner using strong editorial judgment and knowledge of business and financial news
• Edit written copy and video captions with accuracy on a tight deadline
• Coordinate with CNBC editors and producers in offices in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East
• Write and produce stories on a variety of subjects including financial markets, business trends, economy, and economic policy
• Oversee recruitment and training and development of the APAC Digital team
• Add value and enhance CNBC.com content by incorporating video, story links, slideshows, graphics etc.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
