About the Team

Our database development team is responsible for building and owning database products used by ByteDance's infrastructure including but not limited to relational databases, distributed cache, key-value stores, document stores, and Graph stores. The Video Cloud department is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality of all video services related to our video infrastructure. It supports key platforms such as Douyin, Xigua, Toutiao, TikTok, Dali Education, and other popular apps. The Multimedia Middle Platform (Video Cloud) is one of the world's leading video platforms, offering services like media storage, transcoding, and streaming. The batch processing team is responsible for the company's offline data processing and distributed training, supporting various business scenarios such as offline ETL and machine learning within the company. The components involved include the offline computing engine Spark, the in-house distributed training framework Primus, feature storage solutions like Iceberg and Hudi, as well as Ray, a next-generation distributed application framework. Faced with massive-scale scenarios, extensive functional and performance optimizations have been carried out in Spark, Primus, Feature Store, and support for the adoption of the new-generation distributed application framework Ray in relevant company scenarios.

- Responsible for the development and performance optimisation of the in-house Feature Store functionality based on Iceberg;

Team Introduction

The Cloud Infrastructure team, based in Singapore, supports many of our star products and core business lines, serving hundreds of millions of users every day. We actively embrace open source and innovative software/hardware architecture, building a series of infrastructures to ensure the best R&D practices and enable the overall development of the company.

Joining this team, you can look forward to a very structured training plan, as well as the opportunity to undertake a larger scope whilst giving enough space to grow and develop. We look forward to your application!

What you will be doing:

- Design and develop Elastic block storage system;

- Continuously improve the storage system in terms of stability, scalability, functionality, performance and cost;

- Provide timely technical support for our online applications, extract potential needs and points of optimization, and continuously optimize the system.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields, with at least 4 years of relevant experience;

- Familiar with C/C++/Golang/Python program development (at least one), pursue high-quality code and focus on code engineering quality;

- Familiar with Linux systems, with high proficiency in multi-threading and network programming;

- Solid knowledge of data structure, operating system, and principles of the distributed system;

- Familiar with large-scale distributed storage system design and implementation, such as GFS/HDFS/Ceph/Lustre.

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of RDMA, AEP, Optane, NVME SSD, and SMART NIC is a plus;

- Experience in storage I/O stack, SPDK, user-mode protocol stack, and ISCSI is a plus;

- Paper published in OSDI, NSDI, FAST, and ATC is a plus.
