Group Financial Controller (Renewable Energy)

Our client is a global energy brand and has its group holding company headquartered in Singapore.

Job description

This is a Group role designed to set-up and manage a high performing finance global team, to provide accurate information to the Management team & Board of Directors.

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you will take on responsibility for preparing consolidated accounts, cash flows, working capital, management reporting and KPI’s.

o You will be applying your knowledge of IFRS accounting to consolidate and report financial information for the group.

• You will be ensuring and enforcing compliance for accurate reporting from the business units and provide guidance and support on IFRS accounting matters and provide reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• The role requires full understanding of how to run a group function, set up an effective accounting manual, ensure compliant internal controls are adhered to along with responsibility of maintaining a relevant delegation of authority matrix across accounting systems.
• You will be responsible to ensure that data submissions from the business units and regions are submitted accurately each month & for budget periods, including reporting compliance and enforcing accountability of this data.
• You will be responsible for managing the year end group statutory accounts completion and managing the external audit relationship. You will work with external stakeholders such as fund administers & tax advisers, etc. to manage the reporting process.
• You will oversee Treasury, Risk and Internal Audit with a view to building-up this function over time.
• The role requires being the technical in-house expert on a variety of accounting treatments including IFRS 16 and could include ensuring the group manages its debt interest and banking relationships correctly.
• You will be responsible for preparing the financial statements and manage all finance related tasks for the subsidiary in Singapore. You will implement an ERP/accounting system and provide accounting shared services to all the subsidiary companies. The role may also require you to support the Group Chief Financial Officer on acquisitions, due diligence and strategic decision making, so an awareness and understanding of the business model and wider finance function

Responsibilities

 Responsible for preparing and delivering consolidated financial reporting including:

o Regular management reporting, operating profit and debt report

o Monthly management, cashflow, working capital, margin analysis, financial and board reporting. o Half-yearly and full-year external reporting and results

o Prepare the monthly/quarterly packages for the Board

o Support the quarterly forecast and budget process

o Statutory audit for the group consolidated accounts

 Responsible for the interaction with business unit managers, including:

o Management of all data submissions, ensuring data is timely, complete and accurate

o Understanding the information received, ensuring analysis and explanations are insightful and useful

o Resolution of practical and technical accounting issues including an assessment of impact on the company

 Ad hoc internal and external financial reporting, analysis and modelling to analyse scenarios that impact the company

 Own and manage the company Accounting Manual, completing periodic updates to ensure document remains fit for purpose.

 Contribution to the drafting and implementation of new accounting policies

Qualifications

 Qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA with min.15-18 years’ experience in a similar Group function role

 Experience with the Big 4 audit firms and accounting under IFRS with an excellent understanding of fundamental key accounting principles

 Solid experience working on consolidations for a Group with multi-currencies

 Previous experience working with senior management and in a global capacity

 Experience of delivering a significant contribution to year end accounts in a MNC

 Strong analytical ability and eye for detail and accuracy, with an ability to take a broader view

 Technically strong with high level of awareness of IFRS including IFRS 16 lease accounting and UK GAAP, including cash flow reporting, non-GAAP measures, impairment assessment etc

 Ability to develop solutions to complex problems and identify and champion delivery of a process of continuous improvement.

 Ability to quickly understand finance and systems processes, drive the new accounting system implementation and take the lead on delivery of key projects

 Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in both head office and the global business units and operating divisions

 Fit into an international environment and work with multi-cultural teams

Principal Accountabilities:

Increase revenue through deep Client relationships

• Proactively manage and strengthen Client relationships by being their problem solving “go to” person
• dentify and build rapport with key decision makers within allocated clients’ accounts

Sales cycle and Client service

• Drive sales revenue by ensuring repeat business through superior Client service
• Develop cross selling strategies and opportunities that broaden the use of the Group’s products andservices within allocated Client accounts
• Action all Client leads and enquires issuing and following through on all quotes and proposals in a timelymanner to win such opportunities
• Manage all contract administration including quotes, contract delivery schedules, utilization reports,contract extensions and terminations.
• Liaise with the accounts team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and resolve any sales invoicingissues in an expeditious manner
• Cash collection responsibility for all allocated accounts including timely escalation to senior managementon unpaid sales invoices with disputes or non-payments.

Teamwork

• Play a key role in cross-group collaboration by influencing other departments, regions and all members ofstaff to consistently extend goodwill and efficiency in dealing with Client requests, enquiries, support andassistance
• Work closely with colleagues to identify and deliver solutions to strategic, technical, service delivery,contractual and/or commercial challenges impacting Client account performance

Market intelligence

• Gather and communicate business intelligence gained relating to Client accounts, the market and thecompetitor landscape, creating the platform to displace competitors and identify new opportunities whichwill strengthen existing and develop new Client relationships

Reporting

• Circulate a daily Client contact report by end of day email categorised between inbound and outbound calls
• and visits
• Assist in the weekly revenue flash compilation as required
• Prepare and contribute to periodic budget and forecasting exercises
• Prepare and deliver Client account strategies and update “Map the Market” for all allocated Client account as required

Brand Finance Controller (Luxury Retail)

Our client is the largest luxury retail brand in the world in its category.

Based in Singapore, the Brand Controller, South Asia and Australia oversees the financial monitoring of South Asia business performance of two to three brands with key focus on the annual budget, rolling forecasts, latest estimates and actual reporting, strategic plans, financial KPIs, office & facilities investment requests, balance sheet and cashflow management.

This position reports to the Head of FP&A, South Asia. The position is a member of the FP&A community of APAC and South Asia driving FP&A initiatives, promoting best practices, and elevating professional competency of the Finance function. The position has no direct report.

Key Responsibilities

• Safeguard the assets and resources of the Group by maintaining the independent view of Finance in business decisions
• Owner of budget and forecast processes of the two brands for South Asia, key contact between head-offices and the 4 markets (SG, AU, TH and MY), to drive financial planning and monitoring of targets and KPIs
• Monitor business and cost trends across markets, analyse financial impacts of budget/ forecast deviations, and recommend corrective measures
• Drive insightful analysis and financial visibility to enable strategic and operational decisions.
• Evaluate the feasibility and profitability of brands existing and future projects
• Promote financial discipline within the brand teams, ensure quality of the financial forecasts and compliance of corporate finance policies
• Lead APAC FP&A initiatives by bringing functional efficiency and elevating the quality of reporting and financial monitoring

Qualifications & Experience

• University graduate of tertiary educational institute
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in Controlling/ FP&A in consumer, luxury retail or any other similar consumer centric industry
• Experience in senior single contributor roles
• Work experience in matrix organization is highly valued; experience in retail industry is an advantage
• Experience with SAP and Business Object is a plus
