KEY ACCOUNTABILITY (Main purpose of this job):
- The Arts Technician manages the daily running and operations of the Arts Department (Visual Arts, Media, Music and Dramatic Arts).
- The Arts Technician assists with the procurement and management of programme resources and materials, the preparation of teaching materials, classroom support and events.
- The Arts Technician oversees the procurement of fixed assets items in the Arts Department, ensuring these items are tagged and listed in the fixed assets register, and maintaining an inventory system of these items.
- The Arts Technician manages the sign in/ out system of centralised equipment e.g. DSLRs, as well ensures the equipment are serviced and updated where applies
RESPONSIBILITIES (Key areas of responsibility):
- To responsibly and safely manage the Arts studios, teaching spaces and storage areas
- To carry out first line maintenance of tools, machines and equipment in studios and teaching spaces to ensure safety and reliability.
- To organize the cleaning and good order of the Art studios and their storage facilities.
- To prepare materials and equipment for Art lessons and projects, including preparation of demonstration materials and resources, and the stocking of classrooms with consumable items.
- Manage specialised IT equipment including, cameras, video cameras, projectors, microphones, lightings etc
- Efficient and safe storage of materials.
- Prepare orders of materials and equipment.
- Preparation of materials – trimming & resizing.
- Processing materials for re-use.
- Monitoring the cleaning of rooms, furniture and reporting any problems.
- Advising on the maintenance and use of rooms and equipment.
- To assist Arts Department teachers and students with practical tasks.
- To prepare display materials and equipment for events and to coordinate catering requirements.
- To control and store safely all chemicals, flammables and specialized solutions, ensuring that current local Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
- To work with the procurement department to facilitate the ordering of materials and equipment.
- Keep stock records, advise on stock control/replacement,
- To keep track of the arts budget and prepare ordering of stationery, OPEX and CAPEX items.
- Liaising with finance regarding PO and invoice processing.
- Receiving equipment and materials.
- Ensure fixed assets are tagged (through IT) and registered on the fixed assets registrar
- Maintain an inventory system for the Arts department
- To manage the sign in/ out system of centralised equipment e.g. DSLRs, as well ensures the equipment are serviced and updated where applies
- To keep stock room storage clean, equipped and organized.
- To undertake other appropriate Arts Department tasks as requested by department staff, such as assisting with the organization of field trips, visiting artists, guest speakers.
- To assist with Dramatic and Visual Arts department productions and events at the school.
- To facilitate booking spaces (e.g. atrium, auditorium, library, Red Dot Convention Centre) and liaise with facilities and maintenance to ensure rehearsals and events are ready.
- To communicate with respective staff and faculty in regards to logistics and event planning for concerts, rehearsals, exhibitions, and other on-site or off-site school Arts functions.
- Responsible for level three and four hallway art display.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in any discipline.
- Working experience in International School and being able to work effectively with others
- A good understanding of computer applications is an important feature of this role
- Good organizational and administration skills
- An understanding of English is important to ensure clear and effective communication.
