Job Role Description
A Senior Speech-Language Therapist is part of the CCDU’s leadership team. S/he assesses and provides intervention to students with speech, language, communication, and works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to provide quality care. S/he also contributes to the development and review of processes and resources, supervision of junior therapists and partakes in research and evaluation as needed.
Critical Work Functions
Strategic Planning
- Implement and track progress on strategic plans – output and outcomes for the different initiatives across the Child Development Unit.
Speech Therapy
- Maintain a clinical caseload - provide assessment and intervention for students across The Canossian Village
- Review and enhance ST related processes, workflows, documentation and reports
- Lead ST team in monthly case management, case reviews Work with heads and sector coordinators on service delivery and planning, as needed
- Supervise STs as needed (students, etc.)
Department
- Undertake quality improvement projects as (e.g. resource planning, room allocation and décor, digitization of resources, SOP for loaning of therapist resources, etc.)
- Undertake research projects as identified
- Represent the CCDU during village-wide and community events, as needed
Training
- Provide training to staff and parents in the Canossian Village and external partners (schools, institutions)
General
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Education, Skills, and Competencies
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology (or equivalent) from an accredited university recognised by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
- Valid Practising Certificate with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)
- Minimum 5 years of working experience with paediatric population
- Experience in supervisory / management role will be an advantage
Technical Skills and Competencies
- Understanding and knowledge of service provision for children with special needs and their families (From early years to primary years and across EI, mainstream and SPED settings)
- Knowledge of hearing loss will be an advantage
Generic Skills and Competencies
- Capacity to work effectively in response to work demands (responding to client needs in different circumstances including critical incidents)
- Keep abreast of latest research and developments in speech therapy and be involved in networking with other community organisations, hospitals and schools
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office
- Ability to contribute to a positive work and team culture where members strife for the highest standards of service delivery and care
- Ability to adapt to change and a willingness to embrace new strategies and ways of working
