Role Overview:
The Principal Instrumentation and Control Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing and managing instrumentation and control systems for industrial and process plants. The role involves preparing technical specifications, creating construction drawings, and ensuring compliance with project schedules and client requirements.
Job Scope:
- Oversee the design and implementation of field instruments and control systems.
- Lead small to medium-sized projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop and review specifications, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documentation for field instruments, analysers, and control systems (e.g., DCS, ESD, F&G).
- Generate and review detailed engineering drawings, including instrument indexes, I/O lists, layouts, hook-ups, cable routing plans, and loop diagrams, in line with project requirements.
- Assess and select appropriate instrumentation for specific process monitoring and control applications.
- Lead estimation activities, including bill of materials, manpower, and technical proposal preparations for tender submissions.
- Prepare project progress reports and represent the team in project and client meetings.
- Coordinate tasks and collaborate with Global Engineering Centres (GECs) to ensure seamless execution of daily operations.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), inspections for instrumentation and control systems, and provide support for Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), loop checks, construction, and commissioning activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
- At least 15 years of Experience in instrumentation and control system design and engineering.
- Proficient in Field Instrument Engineering & Control Systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
- Hands-on experience supporting construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities at industrial sites.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
