As a Marine Design Engineer, you will own engineering responsibilities for all Cavotec’s shipboard shore power retrofit projects. Type of retrofit can be either turnkey, repair and upgrading. Project execution takes place either during voyage or at shipyards, or at times, both.
Shore power/ HVSC/ Alternative Maritime Power (AMP)/ Cold-ironing system enables vessels to connect to shore power while at berth, hence minimizing emissions and noises from the ship’s auxiliary engines. The retrofitted system will be integrated with ship’s existing electrical distribution and necessary instrumentation and monitoring systems.
You will ensure the system design is in accordance with contract specifications, Class rules, and all applicable ship-type and port-specific regulations. You will also participate in the selection of equipment suppliers and service providers for all necessary 3rd party activities. You will have close interactions across all departments of the organization.
Responsabilities:
- Lead the design of shore power system retrofit solutions on vessels.
- Support Project Manager and sales teams throughout retrofit tender stage.
- Incorporate Cavotec’s shore power products on all retrofit solutions. Propose modifications of Cavotec’s products when required.
- Lead all technical discussions and review all technical proposals submitted by external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with marine retrofit team in ensuring retrofit solution is practical and cost-effective during implementation during voyage and/or at shipyard.
- Support marine retrofit team in the selection and management of equipment suppliers and service providers. This includes attending FAT of 3rd party equipments.
- Where required, to appoint and manage the deliveries of engineering contractors.
- Develop shore power retrofit engineering competencies within the organization.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- At least 3 years of working experience in the engineering department of shipyards, marine retrofit organizations or shipping companies
- Well-versed in IACS class regulations for merchant ship design
- Resourceful in the ship repair market
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in English
