You will be working with a team of multi-disciplinary specialists in providing a wide range of services to our patients in CGH and in the community.

• Assess complex patient presentation in a specialised clinical area in a logical and sequential manner generating and testing multiple hypotheses
• Investigate, interpret and analyse patients’ problems directly and indirectly related to the conditions referred, demonstrating sound clinical reasoning
• Plan and implement comprehensive treatment – reflecting current available scientific evidence, ensuring patient safety and effectiveness of intervention.
• Educate patients and their families efficaciously and effectively regarding specific physical and/or mental disabilities, including evaluation of home and work environment and making appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor patients’ progress throughout treatment, prepare and maintain records and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to confidentiality requirements.
• Participate as an active member of the care team by attending relevant ward / unit rounds, clinics, meetings, etc. Take initiative to suggest and operationalize areas for improvement.
• Play a leadership role with the department or as a representative of the department; Deputise for HOD when assigned
• Develop strategic and clinical plans for area of specialization, so as to shape and facilitate achievement of Department Action Plans, collaborating with internal and external clients in a professional manner
• Lead and guide the development of clinical specialization and oversee training/development requirements of staff
• Supervise, mentor and manage performance of staff, so as to facilitate achievement of team, departmental and organisation’s goals and objectives
• Facilitate evidence based practice, analysis of clinical outcomes, and related research/improvement activities in department to elevate clinical standards

Requirements

• Degree in Occupational Therapy or its equivalent
• Preferably 5 years relevant for senior positions
• Good communications and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience in mentoring and training preferred for senior positions

• Good interpersonal skills.

• Preferably with ability to speak more than 1 language or dialect.

The incumbent will provide basic and advanced Respiratory Care services to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio-respiratory system.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to seek out opportunities for enhancements to quality, productivity and/or patient safety and care
• Collaborate with intensivists and respiratory physicians to manage mechanically ventilated patients, facilitate weaning and liberation from mechnical ventilation
• Initiate, titrate and wean patients off non-invasive ventilation
• Formulate appropriate Respiratory Care plans and/or change in therapy based on patient assessment
• Assist in critical care procedures such as Airway intubation, Bronchoscopy, Percutaneous Trancheostomy etc.
• Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial punctures and blood gas analysis
• Facilitate tracheostomy tube change and stoma care, humidification and aerosol therapy
• Respond to MET (Medical Emergency Team) calls

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years experience in Respiratory Therapy in ICU preferred
• Must be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccinations
