Brief Position Objective
- The HOD EdTech works collaboratively with the Head of School/Principal, Director of Administration, Head of Primary/Secondary, IB and WASC/Curriculum Coordinators and Education Technology Coach to set the direction and implementation of technology integration and 21st century learning skills in Chatsworth International School.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee and be responsible for supporting and implementing education technology integration and 21st century learning skills in Chatsworth International School.
- Assist the Education Technology Coach in the development of their ability to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum for their level and subject area of instruction by providing related professional support.
- Assist administration in the efficient and effective use of technology to carry out their roles and responsibilities.
- Assist teachers, students and parents to ensure that the integration and use of technology reflects current best practices that are in line with the vision and mission of the school.
- Promote the safe use of technology, including online and internet safety.
- Assist teachers in the development of their ability to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum for their level and subject area of instruction by providing related professional development.
- Work alongside the Head of School, Head of Primary/Secondary, IT Manager, and Dean of Students in order to advise education technology expectations within the curriculum and throughout the school.
- Serve as a resource to the Leadership Team and IT Manager with regards to implementing technology integration plans.
- Assist the ICT Department with plans for upgrading and purchasing of equipment needed.
- Participate in professional development opportunities in order to stay current in the field.
- Participate in the annual update of the Digital Citizenship curriculum; assist with planning and delivery of content.
Communication
- Attend regularly scheduled leadership meetings as requested by the Head of School so that there is clear communication regarding expectations and moving forward with technology integration.
- Share and celebrate the success and growth of digital learning and technology integration with the Chatsworth community, as well as external communities.
Documentation
- Work to maintain an Acceptable Use Policy for Chatsworth International School.
- Ensure all staff are briefed on the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and make available copies of the AUP.
- Ensure all staff are aware of the laptops for staff responsibilities and policies and that all staff who receive a laptop sign an agreement.
- Ensure the community is aware of the Student Acceptable Use Policy (SAUP) and Parent Acceptable Use Policy (PAUP).
- Ensure all parents receive copies of the Student Acceptable Use Policy (SAUP) and Parent Acceptable Use Policy (PAUP).
Leadership
- Promote and model the ethical use of technology.
- Hold regular meetings with the Education Technology Coach.
- Assist in the development of projects that work towards developing digital citizenship among staff, students and the Chatsworth community.
- Be engaged in innovation, research and exploration to develop, define and share a vision and framework for digital learning which will be communicated throughout to all stakeholders.
Planning and Budgeting
- Review and evaluate educational software and hardware.
- Assist in the annual review with the Leadership Team.
- Provide guidance and recommendations in the budgeting for technology resources throughout the school.
- Provide suggestions and guidance for technology in Strategic Planning and annual Action Planning.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Education Technology Coach in an international school
- IB experience a definite asset (familiarity with the PYP, MYP, and DP)
- Experience leading teams
