Job Summary
Global Agriculture Underwriting role within the Singapore Treaty team. This role will allow the right candidate an opportunity to be the key underwriter within the team, to develop a 6 year old book of business and have exposure to international markets within and outside of Asia.
Main Duties
· Underwrite new and renewal risks within authority level to the benefit of Chaucer’s global agriculture book
· In conjunction with treaty leadership help develop strategy and growth plans.
· Supervise overseas offices production and monitoring of crop book.
· Perform risk, slip, wording and rating analyses
· Undertake premium monitoring, claims monitoring and seasonal performance predictors
· Prepare reports and statistical information as required by Head of Agriculture
· Assist with the developments and enhancements of underwriting systems where applicable, e.g.: new and/or enhanced benchmarking models, etc.
· Liaise with brokers and develop good working relationships with broking and support teams.
· Liaise with other business areas within Chaucer as required including credit control, claims, internal risk review, actuarial etc.
· Assist in the preparation of slips for peer review & liaise with peer reviewer as and when required.
· Business travel as and when necessary
· Opportunity to work within wider Asia/mean treaty team, having exposure to non-crop lines of business when time permits
Regulatory Responsibilities
Manage the relationships with customers, agents and service providers:
· Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction.
· Foster positive relationships with customers and attain an understanding of their needs;
· Ensure that customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate; and,
· Ensure that the principles of treating customers fairly are upheld by agents and service providers.
Other requirements
Relevant experience
Essential
· At least 2-3 years underwriting or Actuarial experience
· Knowledge of the Lloyd’s & / or Company Treaty Market
· Experience of global and in particular Asian crop dynamics, developments and underlying agricultural industry
Working knowledge of Crop treaty operational model
Desirable
· Knowledge of pricing techniques, actuarial methods related to agriculture
Technical Skills

· Microsoft office packages
· Understanding of computer spreadsheets, particularly Excel
Education & Experience

· GCSE Maths grade B or above
· Minimum of 5 other GCSE’s grade C or above
· 3 A Levels (A-C)
· ACII or equivalent (CPCU or ARM)
