Responsibilities:
Oversee ships’ day-to-day navigation safety and ensure operations in ports, security, pollution prevention and deck maintenance..
Responsibilities:
- Oversee ships’ day-to-day navigation safety and ensure operations in ports, security, pollution prevention and deck maintenance are in compliance with Company’s SQMS.
- Monitor and ensure ships comply with Class, Flag State and Port State regulations, and also comply with ISM, ISPS, MLC and ISO to minimize non-conformity.
- Ensure SQMS continuous compliance with latest update in regulatory requirements.
- Provide ship with the necessary nautical publications and charts.
- Ensure that the ships’ communications, navigation, hold-cleaning equipment, latest BMP equipment and other related equipment are in good condition and establish record keeping related to these equipment, structures and procedures. Conduct random inventory checks during ship visits and submit report and follow up with Master to ensure rectification of same.
- Oversee crew management matters: briefing to Senior Officers, oversee crew changes and ensure compliance with STCW and MLC.
- Provide assistance to Ship Manager/DPA in developing schedule training for safety drills.
- Conduct periodical vessels safety inspections for safe operations, ISM, ISPS, MLC compliance and ensure continuous improvement. Gather and analyze data from ship inspections / audits to monitor trends and develop improvement areas.
- Responsible for tracking near miss, non-conformities, incidents, navigation audits, internal and external inspections, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Provide support for the rectification of PSC deficiencies, NCs and observation relating to ISM, navigational issues, crew training, drills, etc.
- Carry out evidence collection, data collation and support investigation during accidents / incidents.
- Provide support as per instruction, during emergencies.
- Provide full support to Deputy General Manager – Marine Operations as required.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Maritime studies or Deck Officer with Chief Officer experience;
- Similar experience of the same position, 2 – 3 years in dry bulk company;
- Rich experience in navigation;
- Good team player, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
