Overview: The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing project plans, schedules, and where involved in projects, coordinating activities to ensure the timely and efficient completion of civil construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures (WBS), timelines, and milestones, considering project scope, objectives, and client requirements.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Create and maintain project schedules using scheduling software (Primavera P6), allocate resources, and coordinate activities to ensure adherence to timelines and deadlines.
- Resource Allocation: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to allocate resources effectively, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Progress Monitoring: Monitor project progress against planned schedules, identify deviations or delays, and analyze critical paths to implement corrective actions and mitigate risks.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments, identify potential risks or obstacles that may affect project timelines, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and maintain project schedules.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular progress reports, including project status updates, variance analysis, and forecasts, for internal stakeholders and clients.
- Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedules, or resources by assessing their impact, updating plans, and communicating changes effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communication and Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration among project teams, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years in planning and scheduling for civil construction projects.
- Proficiency in project management software, particularly Primavera P6.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and industry best practices.
