Role Purpose
• Responsible for information requirement and business analysis, data modeling, and providing data model and message schema standards that satisfy the business requirements.
• Responsible for the Solution Architectures that satisfy the business requirements of projects/programs aligned with the Express IT Target Architecture, Domain Roadmaps, and the IT and Security Standards.
• Responsible for defining Solution Architectures that reduce IT complexity through reusable, supportable, extensible, and cost-efficient solutions.
• Responsible for the architecture implementation working closely with project IT teams through the complete project lifecycle: from inception to design, technology selection, build, test, and deployment.
• Responsible for overseeing vendors’ architects’, ensuring compliance.
• Ensure the project benefits from reusing existing assets.
• Responsible for communicating the Solution Architecture to the project/ program stakeholders guiding the IT project teams during architecture implementation, and ensuring it is understood.
• Ensure that governance processes, including Architecture, development, and infrastructure standards and security mandates and principles, are followed.
• Responsible to the relevant Domain Architect for the alignment of the Solution Architecture with the Domain Architecture.
• Responsible to the Head of Enterprise Architecture for cross-domain solution architectures and alignment to the Express IT Target Architecture.
• Contributor to the evolution of the Enterprise Architecture with best practices and emerging technologies.
Customer
- Member of the Global business Architecture Group.
- Build working relationships with subject matter experts (business and IT) and program management to scope, specify and develop an appropriate Solution Architecture.
- Build working relationships with the Integration and Data architects to achieve an implementable Solution Architecture aligned with the IT and Security Standards.
- Build working relationships with Business representatives and IT representatives to gain sufficient understanding of the Business needs and variance to allow a clear definition and optimization if required of a Solution Architecture.
- Identify and document all aspects/views of the solution.
- Review project documentation to ensure compliance with the Solution Architecture. Ensure that the designs are consistent with the overall Express IT Target architecture.
- Track; provide visibility to architecture exceptions to Enterprise Architecture. Raise and document the exceptions.
Stakeholder
- Responsible to the Domain Architects for the implementation of the Domain Architecture and Standards.
- Responsible to the project/program manager for the specification of a Solution Architecture that satisfies the business requirements implementable within the constraints of budget and timelines.
- Working relationships with other members of the architecture teams to seek alignment and leverage opportunities across DHL Express.
- Propose Global Enterprise Architecture best practices that result from the IT solution implementation.
- Ensure the architecture governance and touch point processes are followed during the project lifecycle.
- Identify areas of sunset in the Domain IT landscape view and propose the Enterprise Architecture simplification strategies.
Process
- Responsible for the realization of the IT Solution Architecture of projects.
- Contribute to the development and realization of the divisional target architecture.
- Provide impact analysis on potential changes to the solution architecture e.g. as a result of changes in the business requirement or IT solution.
Job Requirements
- Advanced University Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent education.
- Architecture certifications from the information systems professional body are preferred.
- Preferably 8 years of multi-disciplined IT experience including:
5 years of Architecture responsibilities in large, sophisticated organizations with high volume/high transaction environments; Ideally Logistics, Airlines, Supply Chain, and Transportation industries.
- Experience in Agile methodology is required.
- Development experience in a team that has provided world-class results, specification, and configuration of systems, and interfaces, including data and performance analysis across large multi-national organizations.
- Experience in Automated Sort and Clearance arenas.
- Expertise in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), including Event management, Business Process Management, Business Rules Engine, and Complex Event Processing with exposure to Digitalisation and Cloud implementations.
- Knowledge of operational processes in Logistics Hubs and Gateways is a plus.
- Able to gather and assimilate information needed for the analysis of a solution architecture; analyses and defines functional and technical requirements; prepares architectural requirements documentation.
- Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to conclude; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
- Establishing courses of action for self and others (i.e., IT suppliers) to ensure that architecture is developed and implemented efficiently.
