PRINCIPAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primarily responsible as fronting account manager of Japanese buyers of Long Term Contracts Management (LTCM) managed LNG contracts, including strategizing communication and managing relationships effectively.
Under the direction of GM, implementation, management and commercial negotiations as required of LNG sales contracts with Japanese buyers as fronting account manager, including building strong relationships and effectively communicating in fluent Japanese.
- Support GM in establishing commercial strategy in relation to LNG sales contracts of Japanese buyers with a full understanding of risks and values inherent in the overall LNG value chain.
- Full understanding of the unique and complex North American LNG project value chain, including gas sales agreements (for example, NAESB), gas transportation agreements, liquefaction regasification tolling agreements and LNG long term sales and purchase agreements.
- Quantitative analysis and evaluations in justifying commercial strategies and contractual implementations of LNG value chain contracts through creations of Excel based models.
- Coordination with Contract Administration team over verification and settlements of LNG value chain contracts.
- Internal and external coordination including those with Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), the parent company of DGI, including establishment of tax schemes relevant for LTCM contracts through engagement with Japanese and Singaporean tax authorities.
- Support GM in formulating DGI’s Business Plans and Budgets, internal DGI reporting and reporting to and liaising with MC.
- Participate and contribute through special purpose teams or taskforce led by GM to study, propose and implement DGI’s value or efficiency enhancement measures.
- Contribute to maintain a strong and motivated team environment including opportunity identification and suggestions for enhancement of business process.
Experience & Knowledge
- At least 5 years of in-depth experience within the LNG industry, preferably with major oil and gas company, and experience in LNG ranging from value chain contract negotiations, marketing, trading, and operations.
- Proven track record in LNG invoice settlement operations, cargo operations, and successful negotiation and administration of LNG value chain contracts including long term LNG contracts.
- Extensive experience working in an LNG industry, in a multicultural environment with diverse interfaces with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Extensive overseas experience preferable.
- Comprehensive understanding of regulatory and legal restrictions applicable to the sales, export and transportation of LNG in the global market.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent negotiation skills in fluent English and Japanese, as well as high level of linguistic skills in both languages.
- Excellent Excel skills, including modelling of LNG commercial value chain and commercial or operational optimization of LNG cargo and shipping.
- Meticulous and detailed focus with ability to identify complex concepts including ability to analyze and plan structured negotiations of commercial agreements within the LNG value chain.
- Ability to build strong relationships quickly with stakeholders and external third parties.
- Possess a high level of commercial awareness with ability to identify and propose solutions to commercial issues, consistent with the company’s objectives.
- Ability to prioritize, optimize and organize workload of him/herself and of other team members effectively to meet deadlines in a high pressure environment.
- Possess a high level of cultural awareness with ability to successfully communicate with staff, internal and external stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds.
