Responsibilities:

• Lead or support Go-to-Market activities and Partners in client facing BD/ sales activities.
• Manage and perform ESG Due Diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, joint ventures, and property transactions, with a focus on private equity and development finance institution mandates.
• Manage and conduct E&S due diligence for project finance.
• Assess environmental and social risks and liabilities, ensuring alignment with IFC Performance Standards and World Bank EHS Guidelines.
• Conduct detailed analysis of ESG risks, including climate change, biodiversity, stakeholder engagement, labour practices, and community health and safety.
• Provide advice to clients on integrating ESG considerations into M&A transactions, including compliance with international standards like Equator Principles.
• Lead a high-performing and talented team as well as mentor junior consultants.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive assessments covering financial, environmental, and social performance.

Requirements:

• At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferred to be in consultancy with relevant project experiences in EHS/ESG/E&S Due Diligence of experiences or buyer and seller-side transactions in private equity and DFI contexts.
• In-depth understanding of IFC Performance Standards, World Bank EHS Guidelines, and their practical application in M&A scenarios.
• Previous experience around ESIA, ESMP, ESMS development.
• Proven ability to manage projects involving environmental permitting, compliance audits, and post-merger ESG integration.
• Excellent communication (both written and spoken) and coordination skills.
• Experienced in managing multiple medium scale projects concurrently.
• Experienced in drafting and reviewing proposals expeditiously.
• Effective and empathetic leader.
• Ability to travel, maintain flexibility and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with Financial Sector & M&A trends in Singapore and the region, in particular PE, Multi-development Banks and/or commercial banks as a plus.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Consultant / Consulting Director specializing in Sustainable Operations to join and lead our dynamic team in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the rapidly growing field of sustainability, where you will play a key role in shaping and driving sustainable strategies for our clients across various industries. This role will work directly with the regional leadership team and will be exposed to ERMs APAC wide operations, thereby providing ample opportunities to grow and expand.

This role is to support expansion of ERM Singapore as the Southeast Asia (SEA) Hub and will be based at our Singapore office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage projects focused on creating and implementing sustainable operations strategies, with a particular emphasis on EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) management systems, water management, and waste management.
• Collaborate closely with clients to understand their unique challenges and sustainability goals, providing expert guidance and solutions tailored to their needs.
• Drive commercial objectives and work closely with partners for sales development, client outreach, driving revenue growth and achieving business targets.
• Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management systems for clients across various industries.
• Conduct audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
• Provide strategic guidance to clients in the integration of EHS management into their overall business operations.
• Support in nurturing relationships with key clients, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Support maintaining robust sales pipeline, actively pursuing new business opportunities.
• Support and lead new Go-To-Market plans for Sustainable Operations team covering decarbonization, circular economy, monitoring, reporting and verification service
• Support business development efforts, contributing to proposals, presentations, and client engagement to secure new projects and expand existing partnerships.
• Support in implementation of data-driven solutions, leveraging advanced digital tools and technologies to optimize and improve environmental and operational performance.

Key Requirements:

• Master’s degree in environmental science or engineering, or related discipline.
• Bring 10 to 15 years of robust experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management, including thorough compliance audits and effective waste management strategies. Demonstrated success in asset or facility-level EHS initiatives is essential.
• Track record of delivering successful sustainability and EHS projects across diverse global markets, working with multinational clients to navigate complex regulatory environments and implement sustainable strategies.
• Exhibit a strong grasp of sustainability frameworks, greenhouse gas inventories, and the principles of a circular economy, showcasing your commitment to environmental stewardship.
• Proven ability to lead diverse, cross-functional teams and adeptly manage intricate projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring successful outcomes.
• Experience as an Internal or Lead Auditor for ISO Management Systems, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14064, with additional external certification as an asset.
• Demonstrated expertise in program management, showcasing your ability to engage with global clients, navigate complex project scopes, and effectively collaborate with subcontractors and digital partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage clients at senior levels.
