RESPONSIBILITIES
In-charge of entire new building/ modification projects, i.e., from conceptualization, designing/ plan preparation, negotiation and selection of yard/ maker, Class approvals, ship construction/ modification and delivery, of multiple projects simultaneously.
Yard In-charge and supervision of newbuilding projects in China / Korea / Japan yards for various types of Vessels and fuel systems.
Understanding of EUETS / EUMRV and ensuring compliance with these regulations in the fleet.
Monitoring IMO updates on Decarb regulations and implementation of such regulations in the fleet.
Keep abreast of all the new regulations applicable to the fleet vessels and ensure effective and timely implementation.
Provide guidance and support to the Technical Department post new building delivery and preparation of dry dock / modification / repairs specification, including effective cost management.
Attend the repair / modification / dry docking of vessels as and when required by the management to identify any gaps and implementation of the desired improvements.
Inspection of the fleet vessels on a regular basis to identify the common defects and/ or areas for improvement. Conduct training of shore and ship staff on key technical issues and for enhancing the safety culture and machinery reliability.
Support technical department in upkeep of the technical circulars/ recommendation/ modification repository from the makers of key machinery, such as main engine, auxiliary engines, auxiliary boilers etc and assist them in designing and developing the Planned Maintenance System for these machineries.
Maintain contact with classification societies, shipyards, repair firms, industry groups, trade associations, equipment manufacturers and designers, government bodies and other organizations to carry out the assigned duties and responsibilities.
Identify trends (issues / challenges) from fleet’s structural and machinery maintenance and / or operations. Assist technical department in designing/ developing and implementation of mitigating/ preventive measures.
Assist the Technical Superintendent / Fleet Manager in any major breakdown till its rectification and completion of Root cause analysis.
Contribute and support company’s (SIMS) R&D team for technical projects.
Assist the Corporate Compliance Manager (CCM) with the implementation of the Engineering Requirements as required by Environmental Compliance Program standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualification should be at least a in Naval Architecture or Maritime Safety.
Minimum 15 years’ experience in shipping in a position of increasing responsibility for New Building, Ship Repairs / modifications, Dry Docking, including a minimum of eight (8) years in the shipbuilding.
Newbuilding/project management experience in China, preferably in LNG, chemical tanker, Bulk Carrier and Offshore Vessels.
Newbuilding / project management experience in Dual Fuel Vessels, esp., in LNG, Methanol.
Knowledge of Energy Management Systems and / or energy conservation methods is an added advantage
Knowledge of IMO updates on Decarb regulations and implementation of such regulations for the upcoming projects.
Preferably not have changed companies during last 5 years.
